The rains have come and gone so the mud should be drying up with the beautiful sunshine of late.  But wait…..there’s still mud out there!!!    Do you like playing in the mud?  Well your chance is coming on Saturday, April 11th when the Mesquite Rotary Club holds its 2nd Annual Mudd Volleyball Tournament at the Eureka Casino Resort.  Gather your family, friends, co-workers and neighbors and organize a team for a great evening at the Eureka Casino Resort.

Mesquite Rotary is gearing up for the 2nd Annual Mudd Volleyball Tournament. Last year’s players encountered a lot of wet, muddy fun. This year’s competition is sure to be even better, as teams from the Mesquite Police and Fire & Rescue Departments have committed to joining in on the fun this year. Photo by Stephanie Frehner.

Check-in time for teams is 9 a.m. with the tournament beginning at 10 a.m.  Plan to watch as members of the Mesquite Police Department and Fire & Rescue battle each other in a challenge match for the coveted “traveling trophy.”

“This will be a co-ed recreational event,” noted Rotary organizer Linda Gault.  “Teams will be testing their volleyball skills by playing in mud!  DJ Number Juan will be spinning the tunes and keeping the crowd gyrating during the event.  There will be 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes and concessions,” she added.

Playing volleyball in the mud is a fun twist to a popular sport.  Teams need to consist of 8 players, can be co-ed, and all players must be 15 years or older.  For rules and a team sign-up form, go to www.mesquitenvrotary.org or call 307-760-9544.

Funds raised from this event will help the Rotary Club in its efforts to build a 9-hole disc golf park in Beaver Dam.  The park will be located on vacant property adjacent to the elementary school there.  Other than the school’s playground equipment, the small Beaver Dam community presently has no park or other activities for their enjoyment, so the addition of a disc park will be a great amenity incorporating benches, picnic tables and landscape to the area.
