Adri Wakefield’s best game of the year on the mound was not enough for the Virgin Valley High School Lady Bulldogs to get by archrival Moapa Valley High School Pirates Thursday afternoon in the Dawg Pound.

“On the plus side Adri pitched her best game of the year,” said Bulldog coach Travis Griffith. “She gave up only one earned run and allowed four hits.”

Three Bulldog errors in the first inning gave the Pirates a 2-0 lead which they never relinquished. The Pirates added none more run in the second and one more in the fifth and sixth inning to win easily. The Bulldogs bane has been errors as they made nine for the game. The Bulldogs loaded the bases in the fifth inning but could not finish against the Moapa starter.

The Lady Dawgs traveled to St. George Utah on Friday and Saturday for five games in two days in the March Warm-Up Tournament.

The Bulldogs reported three losses in the tourney but, results for the others, has not been reported. The losses dropped the Dawgs to 1-13 for the season. The Bulldogs continue league play at Boulder City on Tuesday, March 24 before hosting Desert Pines on Thursday, March 26.
