Lady Dawg Gizelle Navarro stroked a single down the left field line to score Janella Fiso with the winning run giving the Bulldogs a 6-5 victory last Friday. The Bulldogs allowed two runs in the top of the seventh to trail the Pahranaghat Valley Panthers 5-3. Emma Barnum, who had three hits for the day, walked to begin the seventh inning followed by another walk to Savannah Price. Taylor Bryant advanced the runners on a fielder’s choice before Fiso scored both on a hard hit single to tie the game at 5-5. Fiso stole second and advanced to third on an out at first. That brought up Navarro who stroked the R.B.I. to lead the Dawgs to victory.

“This was a big win for the girls,” said Bulldog coach Travis Griffith. “They were able to come back in the seventh inning after giving up the lead. All the girls had significant roles in the win. Adri Wakefield pitched a good game and the girls supported her defensively.” Wakefield threw a complete game allowing only five hits. The Dawgs will get a well needed spring break rest before resuming play on Tuesday, April 7 against Sunrise Mountain at the Dawg Pound beginning at 3:30 p.m.

Despite an overall record of 3-15, the Dawgs are only 2-3 in Sunrise League play.
