The Mesquite Elks Lodge held a “Hog Callin” dinner Saturday, February 28, 2015 in support of the Nevada State Elks Major Projects, which helps fund the Safe Haven child protective services and domestic violence programs.  The members in attendance were served a Pulled “Pork” dinner.  Over 30 piggy banks that members used to collect spare change during the year were corralled into a special Pig Pin for the evening.  Those pigs weighed in at over 85 pounds equaling $1,103.  Larry Todd turned in the heaviest pig, which weighed 7 lbs. 3 oz.  He was award with a 15 lb ham, which he donated back to the Lodge.MLN-Elks1mar12-15

The 85 pounds of change equaled 13,805 coins.  The Elks wish to extend our grateful appreciation to the Bank of Nevada and Dan Wright, Senior Vice President, for allowing their coin machine to be used for sorting, counting and totaling these coins.  Without their assistance, Lodge members would have been counting coins for months.

This is just one of many community events sponsored by the Mesquite Elks Lodge.  Anyone interested in joining the Lodge can call (702) 345-2811.
