The Virgin Valley High School Bulldog baseball team notched their first win of the season 15-0 over Western High School Tuesday night in the Dawg Pound. Bulldog pitcher Koby Smothers pitched a two hit complete game for the win. Smothers had great support from the Dawg defense, who committed zero errors in the game. Junior Paongo led the Dawgs with a big double in the third inning. Jairo Vallejo, Chris Felix and Paongo each had two runs batted in for the Dawgs.

The Dawgs jumped on the Warriors early scoring 5 runs in the first inning on one hit. They added 3 runs in the second inning and finished the Warriors off with 6 runs in the third. The win moved the Dawgs season record to 1-3 after losing to Pahrump Monday 12-3. “Fantastic to get a win,” said an exuberant Bulldog coach Justin Goodsell. “I’m happy for our boys, they did not make an error. Koby (Smothers) threw well and got great support.” The Bulldogs travel to Cheyenne Friday for a non-league game before playing at SECTA in a Sunrise League opener on Tuesday March 17. The Dawgs return home on Wednesday to host Chaparral.
