The Virgin Valley High School baseball and softball teams traveled to Cheyenne High School Friday afternoon in the last preseason game before league play begins Tuesday March 17 at TECH. The Dawgs came away with two losses as the boys lost 15-2 and the girls fell 15-1. The Bulldog baseball pitching staff had no answer for the Desert Shields attack as they gave up 17 hits in the loss. The Bulldogs stayed with the Shields for the first two innings before they gave up 7 runs in the third to trail 11-0. The Dawgs put up one run each in the fourth and fifth innings. The Dawgs, pitching staff were hurt by 11 errors by their supporting crew.

The Lady Dawgs gave up 11 runs after two innings on the way to a 15-1 loss to the Desert Shields. It was the Dawgs eighth straight loss to begin the season. The Dawgs were held to three hits by the Cheyenne pitching staff. The Bulldogs hope to turn things around Tuesday as they face a Roadrunner squad with a 1-2 record.

The Bulldog squads return home to face Chaparral and Moapa Valley on Wednesday March 18 and 19.
