It’s been a long four years.    Was it the number 7, for the 7th year, or was it back on the Canyons or was it just the fact that the home team played just a little bit better than the OMA.   All that matters is the Mesquite Cup Trophey is back on the shelf at Falcon Ridge after four years.  After finishing yesterday only being down by one point the MMGA felt confident going into the second day at their home course.  After losing yesterday in the head to head match play event by two points, today, the teams split the points each team winning 22.   It was the best ball event that carried the home team to victory as they won 13 out of 22 possible points.

The sweepers for the day, for the winning team, were Tim Miller and Alex Church, Jeff Hoyt and Bubba Petrick and Aaron Kennard and John Sabraw.  For the visitors it was the team of J. D. Mc Neil and Duane Carrier.  Winning 2.5 pts out of three, for the winners were the teams of Justin Hughes and Dave Jordan, Jeff Lund and Lyle Warner.  For the OMA, the teams of Doug Eastman and Barry McKay, Will Vinski and Larry Nichols.

At the end of the day and after lunch and a few livations, there appeared to be no injuries and the OMA were very cordial in their loss even though there was one broken club found on holes 14 and 16.

Both team directors concurred this year’s challenge was only held because of the strong enthusiasm and consistent urging of Brian Wursten.

The next scheduled play is Tuesday, March 3 at Falcon Ridge at 7:00 and Thursday Mar 5th at the Palms at 7:40.  Always check your sign up sheets for any corrected times or places.  Anyone interested in joining the MMGA can call 702-346-6363.  Also check out our website at www.mesquitemensgolf.com.
