The Virgin Valley High School flag football team broke a 5 game losing streak Tuesday afternoon in the Dawg Pound with a 20-13 win over the Mojave High School Rattlers. The Dawgs took their opening possession and went 80 yards for the score. Dylan Bryant capped the drive on a six yard pass from Kallie Graves for a 6-0 lead. Graves hit Brooke White for the extra-point and a 7-0 Bulldog lead five minutes into the game. The teams battled evenly for most of the first half until the Dawgs scored their second T.D. on a 6 yard pass from Graves to Geneses DeLeon. Graves then hit Bryant for the extra point with two minutes remaining in the half giving the Dawgs a 14-0 lead.

The Rattlers did not waste much time cutting into the Dawgs lead early in the second half going 80 yards in four minutes to cut the Dawgs lead to 14-7. Graves added one more T.D. in the second half on a one yard run to end the Dawgs’ scoring. The Rattlers added a touchdown scamper to end the game with the Dawgs on top 20-13. The Bulldog defense led the way with Hanna Haviland pulling 9 flags and Kari Wakefield with 8 pulls. McKenzie Leishman also had a strong game with seven pulls on defense.
The Lady Dawgs’ next home game will be on February 9 against Western. The Dawgs’ record now stands at 7-7 in League play.
