The UYSA Presidents Cup is part of the United States Youth Soccer Association’s (USYSA) National Presidents Cup Tournament. The winners of each age group from 12 to 18-year-old teams will advance and play in the 2015 Region IV Presidents Cup tournament in Snohomish, Washington, June 9-14, 2015.  Winners of the Region IV tournament will move on to play in the Presidents Cup National Championships July 9-12 in Overland Park, Kansas.

UYSA has been holding portions of Presidents Cup in Mesquite, Nevada since 2009 and moved all age groups of the tournament to Mesquite in 2011.

According to Terry Ogden, UYSA Region 6 Administrator, since moving the Presidents Cup to Mesquite, it has grown to a three weekend event and this year record numbers of teams are registered. This weekend’s event will host to compete with 126 teams and 2,000 athletes. He said the UYSA and FC Mesquite are both volunteer driven organizations and asked if any adults in the community willing to volunteer with the tournament (non-physically challenging responsibilities), to contact Rosie at Premier Properties 702-345-3000. With the record numbers of teams registered we are in real need of volunteers to keep this a quality tournament.

Ogden said, “Utah Youth Soccer Association along with FC Mesquite Soccer would like to thank the City of Mesquite, the Athletics & Leisure Services Department and its citizens for both the support of this tournament and for the inviting and welcoming nature of the community.”

All soccer games are free for spectators and will be played at the following venues: Mesquite Sports & Event Complex, Virgin Valley High School, Mesquite Recreation Center, Woodbury Park, Hughes Middle School and Bunkerville Park.

Rocky Mountain School of Baseball

RMSB Director, Rhett Udy says there will be 250 campers with 30 instructors for this year’s Winter Ball Camp this weekend.

Udy says the Camp’s success has been attributed to a “Staff who love to teach the game of Baseball.” The camp to staff ratio makes it possible for Staff to provide every player an opportunity to enhance their skills and passion for the game.

The Camp is for boys and girls, First through 12th grade, and players will be divided into Teams based on Grade level. Players will receive instruction in Defense, Hitting, Speed Training and Agility.

“The Camp is provided for the team and individual player to improve their baseball skills and have fun in a warm climate here in beautiful Mesquite,” said Udy. “It is the Goal of RMSB that each Player leaves the Camp with a greater love and respect for Baseball.”
