The GAS Club is getting a good start to the new year with teams logging in with very close scores. The nine-hole tournament on Monday, January 5 was played on the back side of Falcon Ridge Golf Course.

Only 6/10 of a stroke gave the winning team of Ray Sweat, Larry Mierisch, Ron Vedd and Jim Buttler bragging rights for the day. “I didn’t do much to help our team,” said Buttler. “But I kept a good score card,” he chuckled.

As in tradition with close matches, the ‘auditors’ were called in to verify the close results. Sweat also took home the prize for Low Net for the day.

Only two skins held up even though there were quite a few birdies. Ron Wuestenberg and Ron Nickle were the lucky ones for those prizes.

There were two closest to the pin winners, John Meyer, for his beautiful shot on hole #14 that should have been a hole-in-one. The other winner was Buttler for his play on hole #17.

The Mesquite Challenge at Falcon Ridge Golf Course is scheduled for Monday, January 19 at 9 a.m. According to Buttler, there is a spot left for one two-man team. Anyone interested in filling that spot can call Buttler at 702-346-2714 or Brian Wursten at 702-346-6363.
