MMGA toughs it out

NETS ARE BIG WINNERS TUESDAY
Even though Andrew Yeh once again was medalist with 75 he did so without a birdie. Paul LeVan shot 38-39 for second place and Jason Richmond and new member Bill Schnick tied for third with 78. The real story of the day was how low the low net and how close the net scores were. Jim Anderson must have had a great weekend at the car show, or else he left his driver in the garage, because he went out today with confidence and shot a pair of 43’s for a net 64 to lead all players. Just one shot back was long timer Lyle Warner (86) and net 65. One shot back of Warner was Russ Clark with a fantastic front side of two over par 38 and a total 87 for third place with a net 66. It was Clark’s second straight finish in the top three. Two shots back were Jim Guttridge with a nice front side of 39 to finish with 84 and net 70 and Don Mannon(86) and a net 70. Guttridge would earn 4th with a par four on the first handicap hole. The last spot went Joel Reilly (94) and net 71. Welcome new members Bill Schnick, William Nelson, and Frank Vandeweghe. We hope you will play well and often.

CONESTOGA HUMBLES MMGA AGAIN THURSDAY
So what if it was 31 degrees and a north wind of 25 mph twenty seven MMGA members tried to grind through it with no success. Club Champion Jon Hawkins was the only player to play well with a 39-40-79 to win medalist by two shots over Andrew Yeh who shot 42-40-82 and failed to figure out the fast greens. The only other player to shoot in the eighties was J D Mc Neil with 87. The net side of the ledger wasn’t any better. For the third straight round Russ Clark (96) led the group with a net 72. Yeh won second place with his net 75. Jim Guttridge (92) and Gary Denhalter (94) were tied for third with their net 76’s which Guttridge won with his par, to Denhalter’s double bogey. Bill Schnick (87) from the forward tees with a par on the first handicap hole took 5th from Jim Naccarato (100) who scored a bogey on the 18th hole. The scores ranged from 79 to 115 for the young MMGA players.
