GAS Club keeps tight scores

The Wednesday, Jan. 28 meeting of the GAS Club players at Falcon Ridge Golf Course had another close finish.

“It seems that no matter how the teams are drawn for members, the final scores minus the handicaps bring the totals to a point that a putt or two would make the differeince in winning or losing,” said Jim Buttler.

The teams played a different format, this time. Three scores were counted on all par three and par five holes and one score for the par fours.

The winners were led by Ron Nickle, Larry Mierisch, Greg Szydel and Roy Linde, beating out second place by a whole 1.1 strokes.

There were five closest to the pin winners for the day. Dave Calmelat on hole #2, Gary Slater on hole #5, John Meyer on #8, Aaron Kennard on hole #14 and Larry Mierisch on hole #17.

It was also an unusual day, as seven skins were recorded. One skin each went to Calmelat, Terry Spriggs, Buttler, Doug Lund, Mierisch and two to Slater.
