Mesquite Nevada’s very own home grown soccer club FC Mesquite girls U11 team known as CRUSH claimed their second championship this weekend in their home town.

Shortly after being crowned champions at the Dixie Invitational in November. FC Mesquite Crush entered The Presidents Cup which is one of the biggest tournaments of the year, each state in the nation holds a Presidents Cup to determine ranking and qualifying into US Regional finals.

Crush girls made there way into the championship by defeating the top ranked teams Xbox of Salt lake City and United Soccer Alliance, a premier club from west side of Salt Lake Valley who was first and undefeated in their club season.

Crush players Emma Hughes, Abbie Wilson, Leslie Salazar, Erin Ofori, Jordan Memmott and Angela Ludena also had outstanding performances during the tournament, helping to secure the wins needed to take the championship.

Coach Scott Trimming said that the Crush girls played some of the best soccer he has seen and that each young lady on the team is dedicated and is as important as the next.

When asked why the young ladies from a small town such as Mesquite are doing so well?   He stated, “The Crush girls work hard to be good at soccer, however I believe the girls are more then a team, I believe they win because they truly love each other and are family.”

FC Mesquite Crush girls would like to thank their families and friends who support them in the community and especially their VOLUNTEER coaching staff for all their devoted time!

FC Mesquite also had two new teams compete this weekend for the first time the U10 Girls BLAST and the U11 Boys ATTACK.  Great experiences and achievements were had by all our teams.

Organizers of the event would also like to note that there were 177 teams registered to play with approximately 3000 players in all. Each player at this age, brings an average of 3 family/friends with them to this event, the math says there were well over 11,000 people at this tournament with a total of 14 fields running a game almost every hour from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
