Contractors’ Letters of Interest for Design-Build Project Due by Jan. 23

The City of Mesquite is seeking contractors’ Letters of Interest for construction of a new Interstate 15 interchange, a design-build project that is expected to boost the economy upon completion in summer 2016. The City has contracted with Horrocks Engineers to administer contractor selection and oversight.

The letters are due by Jan. 23, 2015, and must be submitted electronically at http://projects.horrocks.com/MesquiteExit118. A Request for Qualifications will be issued in February to determine which contractors will be short-listed for the final proposal. Any questions regarding this procurement can be directed to Wayne Horlacher at Horrocks Engineers: (702) 966-4063 or wayneh@horrocks.com.

The Interstate 118 project will include the construction of a diamond interchange along Interstate 15 at Milepost 118 and the extension of Lower Flat Top Drive to connect with the new interchange. It will provide tractor-trailers a direct route to the Mesquite Technology and Commerce Center, increasing the efficiency of deliveries and drop-offs and revitalizing local economic development.

It is anticipated that the project will help keep tractor-trailers off the community’s thoroughfares and arterials, freeing up those roads to commuter traffic.

The design-build construction endeavor is funded by Clark County Fuel Revenue Indexing through the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada.
