The Virgin Valley High School girl and boy basketball teams traveled to Boulder City to face the Eagles in important matches Wednesday night. The Bulldog boys won easily over their counterparts 53-27 behind 16 points from guard Zach Barnum and 12 points from center Cody Burnside. Point Guard Jarret Tietjen and new starter Andrew Memmott added eight points each to the win. Burnside led all rebounders with 10 boards. The Bulldogs led 24-15 after one half of play and dominated the second half 29-12 to take the victory. The win keeps the Bulldogs tied with Sunrise Mountain for the fourth and last spot in their quest for a 1-A playoff spot. The Bulldogs will travel to TECH to play the win-less Roadrunners on Friday January 23 before returning home January 27 to host 5-1 Del Sol High School.

While the Bulldog boy team tasted a win the Lady Dawgs suffered defeat against the Lady Eagles 39-30. The Bulldogs trailed 21-13 after one half of play but mounted a comeback in the third period but still trailed 30-25 after three periods. The Dawgs could not keep the momentum in the last period falling by the score of 39-30. The Bulldogs could not take advantage of Eagle falls making only 6 of 17 from the free throw line. Guards Emma Barnum and Spencer continued to lead the Lady Dawgs with eight points each. The Dawgs record fell to 5-2 in league play. The Ladies will host win-less TECH on Friday January 23 before traveling to Del Sol on Tuesday January 27.
