The Virgin Valley High School Lady Bulldogs regrouped Monday evening to defeat the Western High School Warriors by a score of 48-38. The Lady Dawgs jumped out to an 18-10 advantage after one period of play.

The Dawgs increased their lead to 32-17 at the break. The Warriors increased the defensive pressure in the third period holding the Dawgs to three points to cut the lead to 35-29. The Warriors moved to within two points before the Bulldogs made a 10-0 run to take the non-conference win.

Six Bulldogs hit the scorebook with guard Spencer Green leading the way with 12 points followed by guard Emma Barnum and forward Bernice Fiso with 9 points each. Brianna Todd tossed in 8 points with Becca Bramlage and Kourtney Metzger adding 5 points to the final score.

The Lady Bulldogs open the season Thursday night against arch-rival Moapa Valley at 6 p.m. The Pirates return nine letter winners from last year’s squad led by senior guards Mckayla Jackson, Emily Mills and forward Danielle Russo. The Bulldogs won both games last year.
