Over the past few weeks, the community has come alive with holiday events and Christmas themed events to help give everyone that holiday cheer. Last week was no exception at the Eureka Casino, where Andre Carrier and Gerri Chasko, along with other staff from the casino and the Eureka Community Initiative, brought a different type of entertainment to Mesquite.

Situated in the stage area of the recently remodeled Town Square buffet, the Hot Lava Group out of Las Vegas entertained two crowds with music and dance.

The first show held at 5 p.m. on December 11 was geared to the younger crowds, allowing children to enjoy the different elements the group had to offer.

While a majority of the night was performed by the Hot Lava Group, other locals joined in including the Treble Makers and the Virgin Valley High School Band. First Grade students from Virgin Valley Elementary School kicked off the show with a special hula dance they learned back stage just before the show.

Members of the Virgin Valley Theatre Group also performed a short skit while singing ‘The Twelve Days After Christmas’ offering some comedy to the crowd to go along with the festive ambiance.

“This is a very new concept we are attempting,” Carrier said before the show. But after the show, it was quite clear that this venue could be a very real possibility for future events.
