Based on public input, the public scoping meeting for the Uinkaret Mountains Landscape Restoration Project Environmental Impact Statement previously scheduled to take place on Wednesday, November 13, 2014 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Mesquite City Hall in Mesquite, NV has been canceled. Instead, a second meeting will take place in Flagstaff, Arizona and will be publicly announced by the BLM no later than 15 days prior to the meeting.

The November 12, 2014 meeting scheduled for St. George, Utah from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. will take place as scheduled. The public scoping meeting in St. George will be held at the Lexington Hotel and Conference Center, 850 South Bluff Street St. George, Utah.

The BLM received public input requesting that a meeting be held in Arizona. Moving the meeting to Flagstaff allows the BLM to conduct scoping in a broader geographic area surrounding the proposed project.

The Bureau of Land Management Grand Canyon-Parashant National Monument and Arizona Strip Field Office are proposing the Uinkaret Mountains Landscape Restoration Project and are studying management methods which may include manual, mechanical and chemical treatments, management of wildfires, use of prescribed fires, and seeding treatments, depending on the specific resource management goals and desired outcomes.

The public scoping comment period for the Uinkaret Mountains Landscape Restoration Project Environmental Impact Statement began on October 21, 2014.  Comments are welcome from the public at the public open-house meetings, by mail to 345 East Riverside Drive, St. George, UT 84790, or by email to blm_az_uinkaret_eis@blm.gov.
