VVAA logoThe Mesquite Arts Community kicked off the Christmas holiday season last weekend with the premier concert of the new Southern Nevada Symphony Orchestra at the Mesquite Community Theatre and the 19th Annual Festival of Trees sponsored by the Mesquite Arts Council at the CasaBlanca Event Center.

Those aren’t the only ways local residents can get into the Christmas spirit in a big way thanks to all the talented artists in Mesquite.

From Nov. 24 through Dec. 27 the Virgin Valley Artists Association is showcasing its Boutique of Fine Gifts in the Mesquite Fine Arts Gallery. No need to shop out of town when the Gallery has many beautiful, unique, and one-of-a-kind gifts for everyone on your Christmas gift list. The Gallery is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and encourages everyone to stop by. The Gallery, located at 15 W. Mesquite Blvd., is free and open to the public.

Coming up on Dec. 5 and 6 is the Community Christmas Concert at the Mesquite Community Theatre. The Concert has showcased outstanding local talent in its previous shows and has become a holiday tradition. This year promises to be one of the highlights of the season and will surely get everyone, young and old, into the spirit. Performances start at 7 p.m. each day and tickets are $8.

The Christmas and Holiday season would not be complete without the annual Mesquite Toes Christmas Benefit Show on Dec. 11 and 12, also at the Mesquite Community Theatre. All proceeds from the fun and spirited show benefit local food banks in the area. The talented dancers have a few new surprises this year and promise to get your feet tapping to some great Christmas music. Performances are scheduled for Dec. 11 at 1 p.m., Dec. 12 at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets are $6 each.

Mesquite kids will showcase their talent and dance right into your heart as the Releve’ Dance Studio hosts its “Step Into Christmas” recital on Dec. 13 at 7 p.m. at the Mesquite Community Theatre. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children.

Returning to Mesquite for the holiday season is Country Singer Mary Kaye who will perform her Christmas Concert on Dec. 13. Sponsored by the Mesquite Arts Council, Mary Kaye will host her festive concert at the Virgin Valley High School starting at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 per person.

Winding up the talented performances for the Christmas season in Mesquite is the “Best Christmas Pageant Ever” also sponsored by the Mesquite Arts Council. The live children’s performance, highlighting local talented kids, is set for Dec. 18, 19, and 20 starting at 7 p.m. each night plus a 3 p.m. matinee on Dec. 20. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for children.
