Last Saturday’s book sale at the Mesquite Library to benefit the Summer Reads program was another huge success thanks to the community members who bought over 2000 books.

This was the second book sale sponsored by the Mesquite Library, Mesquite Chamber of Commerce, Eureka Casino and other volunteers. All funds raised will go towards the Mesquite Reads Program, initiated by the Eureka Community Initiative, which aims to ensure that all students in the third grade at Virgin Valley Elementary School are at the third-grade reading level before moving on to fourth grade. Each summer, the program benefits approximately 90 students, depending on the amount of money donated and raised throughout the year.

For more information on how you can help Mesquite Reads, please contact Gerri Chasko at 702-345-4726 or email gchasko@eurekamesquite.com. Your donations are tax deductible.
