Jacob Baird and Juan Dominguez have reached the pinnacle of wrestling, Nevada State Champions, but the story doesn’t end there. The Bulldog duo, want to continue the success of 2013-2014, by repeating in 2014-2015. Baird will move up in weight class competing at 113 lbs. this year. Baird is coming off a remarkable year for a freshman. Buoyed by confidence competing in the off season with the Bulldog Wrestling Club, Baird is looking for more championships in the future. “I want to be the best I can,” said Baird. “I need to make my weight, eat healthy and drink a lot of water. Our coaches stress conditioning along with good grades. I need to get better by correcting my mistakes.”

You good see the intensity in the eyes of Dominguez when asked about the training methods of the Bulldog coaches. “We train hard and want to give up at times, but can’t because we are a team on a mission,” said Dominguez. “I have been wrestling since seventh grade but doubted myself until last year. Now I believe I can win and hope to repeat as champion this year. I’m a senior captain and we need to close this year. Most of us have had 50 to 60 matches this summer traveling with the Bulldog Wrestling Club.” The club traveled as far as Virginia Beach plus Idaho and Texas for national tournaments.

The Bulldogs open against Division I State champion Green Valley at the Green Valley Duals. It should be a test of the Bulldogs resolve and drive in their quest to dethrone 1-A perennial champ Lowery High School.
