In a short meeting Tuesday night, the Virgin Valley Water District heard reports from staff on the status of various operations.

Presentation from MacRay Curtis of Wissan, Smith, Racker & Prescott, LLC, the water district’s auditor, showed that there were no concerns found with the recent audit of the VVWD records for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2014.

“We’re presenting what we call a ‘no findings’ report. There was nothing that caused concern through our process,” Curtis said. He also mentioned that monies from potential settlements would not be included in their reports until the settlements were final and the monies had been received by the VVWD.

The VVWD Board unanimously approved adoption of new regulations regarding the Public Records Policy and Fee Schedule to conform to NRS 239, which had some recent changes to its requirements.

In other news, Hydrologist Aaron Bunker presented his update on the status of repairs being made to several wells the water district owns. He was optimistic that the repairs are being made and that the affected wells should be back to operation mode soon, including Well #27, which he hopes to have completed by the end of the year. The next meeting for the VVWD will be on Tuesday, October 21 at 5 p.m. in the conference room at 500 Riverside Road. For the agenda that evening, the continual discussion of a potential rate increase is expected. The public is encouraged to attend to ask any questions they may have of the impact of a new rate structure.
