MLN-Smartartoct2-14Virgin Valley Artists Association has opened its Get Smart with Art program to the public, now offering a Saturday morning art class for adults. Veteran art instructor Diana Coonradt will lead the class that provides lessons in drawing, pen and ink, colored pencil, watercolor and acrylic painting.  Classes started October 4, 10 a.m. – noon, and will meet the first and second Saturdays of each month.

This class is geared for working adults and seniors who wish to learn a new recreational skill.

Classes will be held in the Mesquite Fine Arts Center classroom, with advance sign-up needed to reserve a seat for the limited space. Student donation of $3 per class is gratefully accepted on day of class.  Donations by students or community donors are tax deductible. This class is sponsored by Virgin Valley Artists Association (VVAA) with partial funding provided through the generosity of local businesses, partnering organizations, and individuals.

Mrs. Coonradt is well known for her longtime leadership of the Stay Smart with Art program that has served the community for the past eight years. She is a lifelong artist and instructor, frequently exhibiting her work at the Mesquite Fine Arts Gallery. In August, her acrylic painting,

“Vincent’s Song,” took the coveted Sponsor’s Choice award in the “Starry Night” exhibition sponsored by the Eureka Casino Resort.
