Editor’s note: The following was taken from the pages of the Mesquite Police Department blotter for Oct. 5 – Oct. 11, 2014.

Oct.5:

Theft: An officer was dispatched to the police department to contact a person on the phone, in reference to a theft that occurred in Mesquite at a local hotel.

Panhandling: Officer observed an adult male panhandling on W Pioneer Blvd and a warning was issued.

Citizen Assist: An officer was dispatched to the Mesquite Police Department in reference to a citizen assist call.

Domestic Trouble: Officer’s responded to a Pebble Creek Hts residence for a report of a domestic situation where a male and female had been forced out of the residence. After speaking with all involved parties, it was determined to be a verbal dispute.

Person on Foot: An officer was waved down by a motorist on W Hafen Ln & Lewis St who requested information about OHV use in the city.  He was provided an OHV pamphlet.

Citizen Assist: An officer was dispatched to a W Mesquite Blvd casino, in reference to a citizen assist.

Alarm: Officer responded to the middle school for an alarm. Alarm was found to be employee error.

Found Property: An officer responded to the Justice Facility on Hillside Dr. reference a report of found property. The owner of the property was located, and the property was returned to the owner.

Fraud: Officer responded to a N Sandhill Blvd restaurant for a report of defrauding an innkeeper. The suspect used three counterfeit $20.00 bills to pay their bill. No suspect information at this time.

Oct. 6:

Traffic Accident w/ Damage: An officer was dispatched to an E Pioneer Blvd casino in reference to a traffic accident report.  It was later determined that the damage to the rental vehicle the reporting person had called the police in reference to was old damage that had already been reported to the rental company.

Citizen Dispute: Officer responded to a W Hafen park for a citizen dispute, concerning the complaining parties’ dogs. The laws concerning the dogs were explained to both parties.

Suspicious/Vehicle: Officer responded to a W Hafen Ln parking lot, reference a suspicious vehicle. The owner of the vehicle was identified and the matter resolved.

Stolen Vehicle: Officer responded to a Riverside Rd business for a report of a stolen trailer. It was later discovered the trailer had been moved by another employee.

Keep The Peace: An officer was dispatched to a Foxglove Ln residence in reference to a keep the peace call.

Civil Matter: An officer was dispatched to the police department in reference to a civil matter.  It was determined that this incident occurred in Scenic, Arizona; the reporting person was given information to contact the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office.

Suspicious Person/Circumstance: Officer responded to a suspicious vehicle parked at a bank-owned home on Palm Cove Ct. Two males hired by the bank were working on the home.

Person on Foot: An officer made a stop for a person jaywalking on W Mesquite Blvd, and carrying a panhandling sign. Warnings were issued.

Theft: Officer responded to a N Sandhill Blvd business and took a report of shoplifting from the store owner. Information was gathered concerning the suspect and an investigation has been started.

Citizen Assist: Mesquite citizen responded to the police station to report information on a telephone scam concerning government grants. Information was taken.

VIN Number Inspection: An officer responded to an Eagle St residence and completed VIN inspections on two ATVs.

Sex Offender Verification: Officer conducted a residence verification on a registered sex offender.

Minor Gambling: Police responded to an identification check at an E Pioneer Blvd casino. One female juvenile was issued a citation for minor gambling and released to the custody of her mother.

Oct. 7:

Trespassing: An officer was dispatched to a Mesa Blvd casino, in reference to a trespass violator.  An adult female subject was taken into custody.

Phone Harassment: An officer was dispatched to the police department in reference to a harassment call.

Wanted Person: Officer responded to the police department for a male in the lobby with an active warrant. The warrant was out of another jurisdiction and the male party was informed of the process to take care of the warrant.

Citizen Assist: Officer spoke with a citizen concerning an attempted telephone scam. Information concerning the scam was received and a report was completed.

Wanted Person: Officer responded to a business on W Mesquite Blvd for a male in the store with a warrant. The male was gone upon officer’s arrival. The male in question was found to have a traffic warrant out of Las Vegas.

Fraud: An officer responded to the lobby in reference to a possible fraud.

Suspicious Person/Circumstance: A citizen on Pulsipher Ln called to report a suspicious situation that had occurred to her several days prior.

Dead Body: Police responded to Wigwam St for a report of a dead body. The death appeared to be of natural causes. A report was taken.

Phone Harassment: Citizen on E First North St contacted the police regarding on going Landlord/Tenant issues. Both parties advised to handle further issues through the court.

Oct. 8:

Driving Under the Influence: Vehicle was observed speeding and failing to maintain travel lane amongst other
traffic violations at E Pioneer Blvd & Mesa Blvd. Investigation resulted in finding the driver was DUI.

Property Damage, Non Vandalism: An Officer responded to a W Mesquite Blvd casino for a report of vandalism to a restroom.

Property Damage, Non Vandalism: Officers responded to an E Pioneer Blvd casino for a report of vandalism to a restroom.

Property Damage, Non Vandalism: Officers responded to a Mesa Blvd casino for a report of vandalism to a restroom.

Disorderly Conduct: Officers responded to a Sun Valley Dr apartment complex regarding an intoxicated individual that was threatening neighbors. The subject was arrested for breach of peace and booked into jail.

Oct. 9:

Suspicious/Person: Officers responded to a report of a suspicious male subject on E Pioneer Blvd who stated someone was trying to kill him. The subject attacked an officer and was taken into custody.

Oct. 10:

Traffic Accident w/ Damage: Officer responded to a private property two (2) vehicle, non-injury traffic accident on W Mesquite Blvd. Driver’s exchange form was completed and provided to both drivers.

Controlled Substance Problem: An officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a minor traffic violation at W Mesquite Blvd & Thistle St. The officer located drugs and paraphernalia in the vehicle. The driver was arrested.

Found Property: A cell phone was found on Mesa Blvd and turned in to the police.

Oct. 11

Theft: Officer responded to an E Pioneer Blvd casino for a report of stolen property. Officer took the report and investigation is ongoing.

Found Property: Female responded to the Mesquite Department and recovered her lost cell phone.

Trespassing: An Officer responded to an E Pioneer Blvd casino reference a trespass violator.  The adult male was arrested and transported to the Mesquite Detention Center for unlawful trespass.
