The Moapa Valley High School Pirates hoped to slow down the Virgin Valley High School boy soccer team Tuesday night but to no avail as the Dawgs had 17 shots on goal in the first half alone to go up 3-0 at the break. The Bulldogs matched the first half with three more to win easily 6-0.

The Bulldogs came out early with an aggressive offensive display led by Gabby Medina and brother Moises. Gabby had three early shots on goal but could not find the net. Two excellent saves by the Pirates kept the score 0-0 until Gabby made a beautiful pass to Moises for goal 12 minutes into the match. The Bulldogs continued to pressure the Pirates defense until Moises scored again set up by Gabby’s pass increasing the Dawgs lead to 2-0 at the 25 minute mark. Gabby Medina struck goal at the 30 minute mark making the halftime score 3-0 in favor of the Dawgs. Meanwhile the Bulldog defense made the Dawg goalkeeper’s job easy with only two shots on goal by the Pirates.

Although substituting freely, the Dawgs would not let up on their offensive barrage Moises Medina would add two more goals within one minute of each other with assists going to Uli Flores and Ricky Trujillo. Bulldog coach Mike Pletzke said, “That was the best goal of the year.” Trujillo hit Moises on a cross pass and Moises headed the ball into goal. The Dawgs would add one more goal on an assist from Pedro Osuma-Gomez to Roman Perez. Domingo Ramirez and Hayden Johnson split the shutout. The Dawgs evened their league record to 3-3 and 6-4-2 overall. The Bulldogs will travel to Boulder City on October 7 for a match against the Eagles before returning home to host the undefeated Sunrise Mountain Miners in an all-important game on Thursday October 9.
