09 29 14 Boor bookThe Lost City Museum presents Jackie Boor, author of  “Logan: The Honorable Life and Scandalous Death of a Western Lawman” from 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14 with a slideshow at 5 p.m.

Boor spent nearly 30 years gathering content for the tale of her great-grandfather Sheriff Tom Logan. The book tells the story of the settler and sheriff who was just a boy in 1871 when his family settled in St. Joseph, now known as Logandale, Nev. His family marketed and sold livestock and crops and his father served many years as justice of the peace.  Logan served honorably as Nye county sheriff from 1899 until 1906 when he was mysteriously killed in the line of duty at the height of the Wild West.

“Prominent figures in early Nevada make an appearance in surprising and fascinating ways,” Boor said.

The program is free with admission to the museum. Admission is $5, children 17 and younger  and members enter free.
