Editor’s note: The following was taken from the pages of the Mesquite Police Department blotter for Sept. 7 – Sept. 13, 2014.

Sept. 7:

Suicide: Officers responded to a report of a dead body on Rodeo Ln. The coroner’s office responded and took over the investigation.

Unknown Problem: An officer was dispatched to a E Pioneer Blvd casino parking lot, in reference to a 911 hang up call.

Found Property: Officer responded to a Casino on Pioneer Boulevard and took possession on a passport that was turned in to the front desk. Passport was placed into the property vault for safe keeping.

Citizen Assist: An officer responded to the lobby in reference to information about possible drugs in a residence.

Litter/Pollution/Public Health: An officer was dispatched to a W Hafen Ln park in reference to a person illegally dumping garbage into the dumpster.

Civil Matter: Officer responded to a Topaz Ln residence reference a civil situation concerning visitation and property issues.

Citizen Assist: An officer was flagged down by a home owner on S Arrowhead Ln for a citizen assist.

Welfare Check: An officer was dispatched to a N Grapevine Rd residence for a welfare check.  A missing person report was completed.

Property Damage, Non Vandalism: Following up on a property damage call on Jacaranda Way; the suspect had a warrant out of the Eighth Judicial District Court in Las Vegas Nevada. Suspect was arrested on warrant.

Minor Gambling: Police responded to a report of a 20 year old gambling in a E Pioneer Blvd casino. One adult female was issued a citation for minor gambling and released with a court date.

Sept. 8:

Dead Body: Officer responded to a report of a dead body on Mesa Blvd. Coroners office responded to investigate.

Property Damage, Non Vandalism: Officer responded to a Siena Ln residence for a report of property damage. Officer observed a broken window located on the front of the residence. The window appears to have been broken by a rock. The incident is being investigated.

VIN Number Inspection: An officer responded to a Desert Winds Way residence and completed two VIN inspections.

Suspicious Person/Circumstance: Officer responded to a reported unattended child in a running vehicle on E First South St. Contact was made with the mother who was a short distance away watching the vehicle.

Burglary: Police Officers responded to Mesquite Heights Rd business reference a burglary call.

Parking Problem: Officer responded to a parking problem at Rancho Cir & E Sierra Vista Circle and 24 hour notices attached to each vehicle.

Keep The Peace: Officer responded to Foxglove Ln residence for a keep the peace while a female removed some property items from the residence. Items were obtained and female left the area.

Property Damage, Non Vandalism: Officer responded to a W Mesquite Blvd hotel for a report of property damage to one of the hotel rooms. Information and evidence was obtained for the report.

Traffic accident W/O injury: Officers were dispatched to a traffic accident with minor injuries at N Sandhill Blvd & E Old Mill Rd.

Welfare Check: Officer responded to a Whitey Lee Ln residence to conduct welfare check on female traveling from Las Vegas to Mesquite. Female had not arrived in Mesquite due to freeway closure. Mother had spoken with female on the phone.

Sept. 9:

Citizen Assist: An officer spoke with four semi truck drivers on W Pioneer Blvd to give them directions for the detour of I-15.

Citizen Assist: An officer spoke with two semi truck drivers on W Mesquite Blvd to give them directions for the detour of I-15.

Citizen Assist: An officer stopped at a E Pioneer Blvd convenience store to give them directions to pass on to motorists and semi truck drivers for a detour route around the closed portion of southbound I-15.

Suicidal Person: Officer responded to a Bertha Howe Ave doctor’s office reference a male subject stating he wanted to die, if he could not get some pain pills for his pain. Male said he did not want to hurt himself and drove to Utah VA office.

Traffic Accident w/ Damage: Officer responded to N Sandhill Blvd for a report of property damage to a vehicle on private property and a report was completed.

Suspicious Person/Circumstance: An officer was dispatched to an Arguello Circle residence in reference to a suspicious situation.

Robbery Alarm: Officers were dispatched to an E Mesquite Blvd pawn shop for a panic/hold up alarm.

Theft: Officer received a report for theft of a firearm.

Threatening: Officers responded to a N Sandhill Blvd hotel, in reference to an adult male subject making threats to the employee.

Unknown Problem: Officer responded to a 911 hang up at a swimming pool on Colleen Ct.

Attempt to Locate: Officers were given information to attempt to locate a possible suicidal subject.

Citizen Assist: Officer was flagged down on W Pioneer Blvd by a truck driver needing directions.

Phone Harassment: Officer responded to the police station and answered questions about suspicious sales calls over the phone.

Reckless Driver: An officer was dispatched to a local street, in reference to a reckless driver.

Domestic Trouble: Officers responded to a E Pioneer Blvd casino for a report of domestic violence. During the investigation suspects were arrested on numerous charges.

Domestic Trouble: Officers responded to a Desert Willow Ln residence reference a domestic battery.

Sept. 10:

Trespassing: Officer was dispatched to an E Pioneer Blvd casino for a trespass violator. A male subject was issued a citation and released with a court date.

Wanted Person: Officer made contact with a male subject while in a Mesa Blvd casino with a warrant for his arrest. The male subject was arrested on the confirmed warrant.

Domestic Trouble: Officers responded to an Emperor Ln residence regarding an alarm.  Upon arrival officers determined that a domestic disturbance had occurred.  Statements were obtained and a report was taken.

Child Abuse or Neglect: An officer responded to a Sun Valley Dr apartment complex in reference to a 2 year old child walking around the parking lot unattended. Due to an ongoing issue with the parents, Child Protective Services have been notified.

Welfare Check: Officers responded to a verbal argument on W Pioneer Blvd, parties were separated upon officers arrival.

Sept. 11:

Domestic Trouble: Officers responded to an E Pioneer Blvd casino reference a domestic dispute.  After an investigation an adult male was arrested for domestic battery.

Lost Property: Female requesting to file a report for lost personal documents of identity. The report was completed.

Theft: Officer responded to an Eagle St residence on a report of stolen property.  Officer obtained a written statement and a report was taken.

Controlled Substance Problem: An officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on I15 SB. Marijuana and drug paraphernalia were located. The driver was cited for multiple traffic and drug charges.

Sept. 12:

Dead Body: Officers and medical personnel responded to an Ice Box Canyon residence, reference a possible deceased person. The subject was confirmed deceased and the Coroner responded to complete the investigation.

Fraud: Officer responded to a Topaz Ln residence on a report of fraud.  Officer received a written statement and a report was taken. Investigation is ongoing.

Wanted Person: Officers arrested a male on Riverside Rd who had a warrant out of Mesquite Municipal Court.

Trespassing: While conducting a building check of a W Pioneer Blvd discount store two individuals where located and arrested for trespassing.

Sept. 13:

Wanted Person: Officer observed an adult female on E Old Mill Rd known to have two warrants for her arrest. Officer made contact and placed female under arrest.

Theft-Bicycle: Officers responded to a W Mesquite Blvd casino reference theft of a bicycle. Officers located the people who took the bike, and the bike was returned to its owner. The owner declined to pursue criminal charges, and an officer’s report was completed.

Disorderly Conduct: Officers responded to a keep the peace call at a Sun Valley Dr residence. Officers arrived on scene and were confronted by two intoxicated subjects. The two subjects were arrested and charged with obstruction, breach of peace, and resisting arrest.
