MLN-Obit2aoct2-14MLN-Obit2boct2-14Raymond Franklin Rasmussen, 62, passed away unexpectedly September 20, 2014.  He was born January 22, 1952 in Denver, Colorado to Raymond Franklin Rasmussen Sr. and Kathleen Ruth Coggins Rasmussen.  He married Marie Bonilla Collins on October 14, 1987.

Ray grew up in Colorado, graduating from Buena Vista High School.  He spent most of his working life in the flooring covering business and more recently as a truck driver. Later years we’re spend in Grand Junction, Co and Mesquite, NV.

Ray loved the mountains best, spending time building his Vega Lake cabin in Colorado, snowmobiling and riding ATV’s on the high tops on the Grand Mesa. He was looking forward to spending more time at his place in Duck Creek Village, UT upon retirement.

He had such an incredible love for his grandchildren and was so happy when he was around them.  Babies would just melt his heart, and he always joked about kidnapping them all.  He had a heart of gold.  He always had a hug and an “I love you” for his wife.  Always such a kid at heart, he always had a funny joke or story to tell.  His latest adventures were video tapings of himself searching for Sasquatch for the grand kids found on his cell phone after his passing.

He is survived by his wife, Marie of Mesquite; mother, Kathleen Laird of Buena Vista, CO; step-mother, Della Rasmussen of Grand Junction, CO;  children, Jennifer Jaeger of  North Dakota, Douglas Rasmussen of Hawaii and Greg Collins of Utah; grandchildren, Drew, Bailey, Kelby, Chase and Kyler; brothers, Randy (Monica) Laird of CO, John (Yaneth) Laird of AZ, John (Lisa) Rasmussen of TN, Mike (Lori) Rasmussen of TN, Russell Rasmussen of TN and Robert Rasmussen of CO; sisters, Darleen (Kenny) Dennis of CO, Joleen (Glenn) Cormier of MA, and Wendy (Mark) Sondgeroth of CO; sister-in-law, Carm Bonilla of MN and brother-in-law, Craig Sorenson of UT; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father, Raymond Rasmussen Sr.; step-father, William (Dale) Laird; brother, Larry Neal Rasmussen; grandmother, Esther Huffman; mother-in-law, Lanice Peterson Bonilla; and brother-in-law, Lewis B. Sorenson.
