GAS Club goes out with a bang

The GAS Club played a two-man modified Stableford format on Wednesday at the Falcon Ridge Golf Course, the last play of the season before overseeding.

“We don’t play enough of these types of tournaments where each golfer has to maintain his game and produce points earned for his team,” said Jim Buttler, one of the many GAS Club players. “It certainly puts a golfer in a different frame of mind on how to play each hole.”

The winning team consisted of Dave Calmelat and Rich Duester, who produced 30 points each for a total of 60, a full seven points ahead of the second place team.

There were five closest to the pin awards for the day with Gary Slater on hole #2, Rich Duester on hole #5, Larry Mierisch on hole #8, John Meyer on hole #14 and Alex Churchich on hole #17.

Skins were even more plentiful for the group, an unusual high of eight skins, one each going to Bill Losh, Dave Calmelat and Jim Buttler. Rich Duester took home two skins and the star of the day, John Meyer, took three skins. “John has his moments but rarely misses a short birdie putt,” said Buttler.

The final event for the GAS Club will be this Saturday, Sept. 6 at noon, when they will host an Overseed Party at the Falcon Ridge Golf Course, 1024 Normandy Lane, Mesquite. For more information or to sign up, call Brian Wursten at 702-346-6363.
