Editor’s note: The following was taken from the pages of the Mesquite Police Department blotter for July 27 – Aug. 2, 2014.

July 27:

Intoxicated Person: Officer responded to a Riverside Rd business on a report of an adult male sleeping behind the store. The male left the premises when asked.

Traffic Problem: Officer stopped for a vehicle stopped in the area of W Hafen Ln & Lewis St with a flat tire.  Tire was changed and the vehicle was moved.

Unknown Problem: Officer responded to a E Pioneer Blvd hotel on a 911 hang up. It was found kids were trying to dial out to another room, and everyone was okay.

Unknown Problem: Officers responded to a Moss Dr residence on a 911 hang up.  Officers arrived on scene and determined that a child was playing on the phone.

Unknown Problem: Officer responded to a 911 hang up at a pool clubhouse on Palmer Ln. Everything was okay, and nobody was found at the pool.

Traffic Problem: Officer observed a disabled vehicle in the roadway at E Pioneer Blvd & Mesa Blvd blocking traffic.  Officer assisted the driver until he was able to move it to a nearby parking lot.

Traffic Accident w/ Damage: Officer responded to a traffic accident on private property on E Pioneer Blvd with no injuries reported. Driver’s exchange forms were completed.

Citizen Assist: Officer responded to a citizen assist at the PD lobby and spoke with an adult female regarding lost property that occurred in Arizona. Female was directed to the appropriate jurisdiction.

Citizen Assist: Officer assisted a motorist on shoulder of the freeway at I15 SB MM 118.

Suspicious Person/Circumstance: Officers responded to Riverside Road on a reported domestic argument.  Officers determined it was a verbal argument and provided both parties a courtesy ride to their respective homes.

Minor Gambling: Officer responded to an E Pioneer Blvd casino for an underage gambler. One adult female was issued a citation for underage gambling.

Theft: An Officer responded to a N Sandhill Blvd drug store reference a theft.  A report was taken.

Domestic Trouble: Officers responded to W Hafen Ln for a verbal dispute between a grandmother and grandson.

July 28:

Intoxicated Person: Officers responded to a vacant lot at Smokey Ln & Pulsipher Ln on a report of an adult male sleeping under a tree.  Officers and medical personal spoke with the subject and determined he was in no need of medical attention.

Civil Matter: Officer met with a citizen regarding property left at old residence.

Suspicious/Person: Officers responded to a Sunvalley Dr residence on a report of an unknown adult male sleeping on the front porch.  Officers located the subject at another address where he was then trespassed from the common areas by management.

Theft: An officer responded to a Via Ventana Dr residence in reference to a theft of decorations.

Theft: Officer’s responded to a N Grapevine Rd residence for a report of stolen/lost prescription medication. Officer’s took the report and will follow up at a later time.

Found Property: An officer responded to an E Pioneer Blvd casino in reference to found property.

Traffic accident W/O injury: Officers responded to a W First South St traffic accident with injury and a report was completed.

Citizen Assist: An officer responded to Palmer Ln for a civil matter involving purchase of a vehicle.

Citizen Assist: An Officer responded to Riverside Rd to assist a citizen with questions on filing a report.

Missing Person: Officers responded to Sunvalley Dr on reports of a missing adult male on the mesa.  Officers searched the area by the mesa and located the male.

July 29:

Domestic Trouble: Officers responded to a domestic dispute on Mesa Blvd. One adult female was arrested for domestic battery and obstructing police officer.

Suspicious/Person: An officer responded to a suspicious person on E Pioneer Blvd, after an investigation the male was arrested for possession of controlled substance.

Citizen Assist: Officer responded to police department lobby to issue a citation.

Agency Assistance: Officer responded to the police station for an agency assist.

Trespassing: Officer responded to an E Pioneer Blvd casino on a reported trespass violator.  After investigation the subject was issued a citation for trespass.

Property Damage, Non Vandalism: Officer responded to a Muscat Dr residence and took a report of property damage, where their garage door had been ran into while the owner was out of town. The necessary information was gathered and a report was taken.

Robbery Alarm: Officers responded to a W Mesquite Blvd bank on a hold up alarm.  Officers spoke with the bank manager and determined it was a false alarm.

Alarm: Officer responded to a W Pioneer Blvd business alarm. Nothing suspicious was found.

Welfare Check: Officer responded to a Pulsipher Ln residence on a welfare check. Contact was made with one adult male who was found to be okay.

Unknown Problem: Officers responded to a San Lucas Way residence for a 911 hang up. The occupants were intoxicated and arguing.

Citizen Assist: Officer responded to the police station for a citizen assist.

Battery on Person: Officers responded to a report of an injured male on E Pioneer Blvd. After an investigation, officers attempted to locate an adult male suspect to serve a citation for battery.

Intoxicated Person: Police responded to E Pioneer Blvd to assist security with an intoxicated person at a local casino. One adult male was arrested for trespassing and booked into the Mesquite Detention Center.

Vandalism: Officer responded to Mesquite Sports Complex on Bertha Howe Ave for a report of vandalism to the restroom. Information was received and a report taken. The incident is under investigation.

July 30:

Theft: An Eagle St resident reports jewelry missing from her house.  Missing jewelry was located at a pawn shop and recovered.

Traffic Stop: Officer conducted a traffic stop on Falcon Ridge Pkwy for a cell phone violation. The driver was found to have a warrant out of the Mesquite Municipal Court and was arrested for the warrant.

Welfare Check: Officer responded to an E Old Mill Rd apartment complex, reference a welfare check on a 5 year old child. Officer made contact with the mother and child who both appeared to be in good health.

Theft: Officers responded to a theft at a convenience store on W Mesquite Blvd.

Welfare Check: An officer responded to am E Old Mill Rd residence in reference to welfare check on a child. The child appeared to be in good health. Child protective services were notified of the situation.

Suspicious Person/Circumstance: Officers responded to the report of a suspicious vehicle on N Sandhill Blvd.

Wanted Person: While walking through a local casino on Mesa Blvd, officers located and arrested a male with an active bench warrant out of the Mesquite Municipal Court.

Found Property: Officer responded to Turtle Cove for a call of a home safe, found on the side of the roadway. The safe was placed into the Mesquite Police vault for safe keeping.

July 31:

Wanted Person: Officers made contact with a male with an active felony warrant at W Mesquite Blvd & Riverside Rd. Officers arrested the male and transported him to the jail without incident.

Wanted Person: Driver of a vehicle at Smokey Ln & Riverside Rd was observed conversing on a cell phone. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was arrested for active arrest warrant. Driver was taken into custody without incident.

Traffic Accident w/ Damage: Officer responded to a Lily Ln. for a reported vehicle/pedestrian accident. A pedestrian was hit by the side mirror of a passing vehicle. The Pedestrian declined medical attention. A report was taken and citation issued.

Agency Assistance: Officers were dispatched to assist out of state units with a pursuit on I15 SB. After pursuit subject was taken into custody. Investigation is ongoing.

Disorderly Conduct: Officers observed an intoxicated adult male yelling at patrons of an E Pioneer Blvd convenience store. The male was arrested for breach of peace.

Aug. 1:

Property Damage, Non Vandalism: Officer responded to a report of damage to a parked vehicle on Mesquite Springs Drive. The vehicle tires had been punctured while parked. A report was taken and an investigation started.

Theft: An officer was dispatched to a Spyglass Way home under construction, reference theft of property. The officer arrived and was provided with the information and completed a report for a matter of record.

Sex Offense: Officer made contact with an adult male on Mesa Blvd whom was not in compliance with his required registration. The male was arrested and transported to the Mesquite Detention Center without incident.

Domestic Trouble: Officers responded to a report of a possible domestic violence incident on Pulsipher Lane. A female was arrested and transported to the hospital for Mental Health reasons.

Disorderly Conduct: Officer responded to the Hospital for a Mental Health patient who was being disorderly and causing damage. A report was taken of the damage to the Hospital.

Traffic accident W/O injury: An officer was dispatched to private property accident on N Sandhill Blvd. No reported injuries and minor damage to the vehicle. Drivers completed the exchange form and each received their copies of the form.

Minor Possessing/Consuming: An officer stopped a vehicle for several traffic violations at Canal St & Hillside Dr. Several alcohol violations were also observed by officers. The driver was arrested, the juvenile passenger was cited and released to his/her parents, and the vehicle was impounded.

Juvenile Problem: An officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle at E First North St & N Yucca St, and observed further criminal activity during the stop. Two minor females were issued citations for minor consumption and possession of marijuana. Three adult males were arrested for possession of marijuana, contributing to delinquency of minors, and an alcohol offense.

Aug. 2:

Mental Person: Officer responded to a vehicle parked in the roadway on Falcon Ridge Pkwy. Female occupant was found to have mental health issues and transported to the Hospital for evaluation.

Weapon Offense: Officers were dispatched to a E Pioneer Blvd casino, reference subjects shooting within city limits. The subjects were located and one subject was taken into custody for firing a weapon within city limits.

Court Order: Officers were dispatched to the area of the local dog park on Second South St, reference a violation of a court order. The male subject was arrested for the violation of the order.

Controlled Substance Problem: An officer observed a suspicious male in his underwear trying to hide behind a tree on N Sandhill Blvd. The officer located illegal drugs on the person. The male was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Trespassing: An officer responded to an E Pioneer Blvd casino in reference to a trespass violation. At the casino’s request, the violator was cited and released for trespassing.
