Editor’s note: The following was taken from the pages of the Mesquite Police Department blotter for Aug. 17 – Aug. 23, 2014.

August 17:

Citizen Assist: Officer responded to a citizen assist by telephone.

Juvenile Problem: Officer responded to a report of juveniles riding skateboards dangerously in traffic on Appletree Ln. Contact was made with kids and parent who were on private property, not in the road, and were riding safely.

Alarm: Officer responded to a business alarm on W Pioneer Blvd. Key holder responded and the business was checked and everything appeared fine.

August 18:

Theft: Officer responded to a N Sandhill Blvd convenience store for a report of an attempted shoplifting. Male subject left item in store prior to leaving. Male was located and asked not to return to store.

Citizen Assist: Officer responded to a N Arrowhead Ln residence, while a male picked up some personal property. The male was then trespassed from the property.

Citizen Dispute: Officer responded to a citizen dispute on Rivers Bend Dr, both parties were spoken to and both agreed to be neighborly.

Traffic Accident w/ Damage: Officer responded to a two-vehicle non-injury accident in the parking lot of Walgreen’s. An exchange of information and accident report was completed.

Domestic Trouble: Officers responded to a report of a domestic battery in progress on Emmarene St. The officers contacted an adult male and female, and observed evidence of domestic violence. The adult female was arrested for domestic battery.

August 19:

Domestic Trouble: Police responded to a domestic dispute at a E Pioneer Blvd hotel. One adult male was arrested for domestic battery and booked into the Mesquite Detention Center.

Citizen Assist: An officer was dispatched to the police department, in reference to a citizen assist.

Citizen Assist: Officer’s dispatched to an E Mesquite Blvd business for report of a possible bullying incident. Officers will investigate.

Theft: Officer responded to a W Mesquite Blvd business and took a theft report. A male subject returned an item for refund and it was later found the item in the box was not the item purchased. Information and evidence gathered and an investigation has been started.

Citizen Assist: Officer responded to a disabled vehicle on N Grapevine Rd and a tow truck was called at the owner’s request.

Reckless Driver: An officer was dispatched to a W Mesquite Blvd parking lot, in reference to a report of a reckless driver.

Juvenile Problem: Officers responded to a report of juveniles throwing rocks at street lights at W Hafen Ln & S Arrowhead Ln. Juveniles were located and spoken to, no damage observed.

Property Damage, Non Vandalism: Police responded to a non-injury accident at a E Pioneer Blvd parking lot. A report was taken for the accident.

August 20:

Phone Harassment: Officers responded to a residence reference a report of harassment. An adult male had made harassing and threatening comments to an adult female. An officer’s report was completed, and officers will attempt to locate the male involved.

Civil Matter: Officer spoke with an adult male regarding a local business taking advantage of out of state visitors.

Theft: An Officer responded to a N Sandhill Blvd drug store reference a theft.  A report was taken.

Traffic Accident w/ Damage: An officer responded to a private property minor property damage accident between two vehicles on W Mesquite Blvd. A report was taken and information was exchanged.

August 21:

Controlled Substance Problem: An officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation at W Hafen Ln & Sunflower Way and located illegal drugs, drug paraphernalia, and an illegal weapon. An occupant of the vehicle also had a warrant. All four occupants of the vehicle were arrested.

Phone Harassment: Officer responded to S Arrowhead Ln for a report of telephone harassment. Officer spoke to the caller and advised him to stop calling the business.

Traffic accident W/O injury: Officers were dispatched to the round about at I-15 NB Exit 120 off-ramp for a one vehicle accident. The investigation was completed and report taken.

Suspicious Person/Circumstance: Officer responded to a Colleen Ct residence, reference a broken window.

Wanted Person: Officers arrested a female on Verllonia St who had a warrant out of Mesquite Municipal Court.

August 22:

Controlled Substance Problem: An officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Riverside Rd and located narcotics with no valid prescription. The driver was arrested for the illegal drugs.

Found Property: Officer recovered a found purse on W Pioneer Blvd and booked it into the Mesquite Evidence Vault as found property.

Phone Harassment: Officer responded to a Cottonwood Dr residence on a reported harassment.  Officer obtained a written statement and a report was taken.

Wanted Person: Officers arrested a male subject on E Pioneer Blvd who had a warrant out of Mesquite Municipal Court.

August 23:

Threatening: An Officer assisted a citizen on Mesa Blvd with questions regarding obtaining a temporary protection order.

Traffic Accident, w/ Injuries: Officer responded to a traffic accident on E Pioneer Blvd with injury on private property and a report was completed.

Traffic Accident w/ Damage: A driver was observed to back out of a parking space at an E Pioneer Blvd Casino and back into another vehicle. The offending vehicle then drove away. Owner of parked vehicle was located and an accident report completed.

Welfare Check: An officer was dispatched to a Sunvalley Dr residence, in reference to a welfare check.

Traffic Accident w/ Damage: An officer was dispatched to a Mesquite Springs Dr parking lot for a minor traffic accident.

Citizen Dispute: Officer responded to a citizen dispute between a golfer and a homeowner on Normandy Ln. Complainant was not able to identify golfer, and decided not to complete a written statement.

Dead Body: Officer responded to a Ruby Dr residence on a report of an elderly male who had died.  Coroner’s office was contacted and a report was completed.

Business or License Problem: An officer made contact with a suspicious business on W Mesquite Blvd, during the contact an adult male was arrested for an active warrant.

Citizen Assist: An officer responded to the police department lobby in reference to a civil matter involving custody of a child.

Suspicious Person/Circumstance: An officer was dispatched to a W Pioneer Blvd store parking lot in reference to children left in a locked car.

Traffic Accident w/ Damage: An officer responded to an accident report at the police department lobby. A driver exchange form was completed and a report was taken.

Lost Property: An officer took a report for missing property at a Mesa Blvd hotel.

Domestic Trouble: Police responded to a battery in an E Pioneer Blvd gas station parking lot. One female was arrested for domestic battery and booked into the Mesquite Detention Center.

Vandalism: Officers responded to a Joseph St residence for a report of vandalism. A report was taken.

Vandalism: Officers responded to a Cincy Way residence for a report of vandalism. A report was taken.

Vandalism: Officers responded to a Francy Ln residence for a report of vandalism. A report was taken.

Vandalism: Officers observed a vandalized vehicle parked at a Francy Ln residence. An officer’s report was completed, and the investigation is ongoing.

Business or License Problem: Officers conducted a business license check at a W Pioneer Blvd event center.

Disorderly Conduct: Officers responded to a W Mesquite Blvd hotel reference a disorderly subject. The adult male was arrested for breach of peace, and an arrest report was completed.

Trespassing: An officer responded to an E Pioneer Blvd local casino in reference to a trespass violation.  An adult female was cited and released for trespassing.
