MLN-Obits2aug14-14Melvin Leroy Gregson, 73, of Mesquite, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2014 at the Mesa View Hospital in Mesquite.  He was born September 4, 1940 in Salt Lake City to Lynn Gregson and Erva Peterson Gregson.

Mel graduated from El Rancho High School in Pico Rivera, Calif., class of 1958.  He served honorably in the United States Marine Corp. from 1958 to 1962.  Mel worked for the Union and Western Pacific Railroad for 42 years as an Engineer.

He loved living in Mesquite and was a member of good standing in the Mesquite AA (Sharing and Caring Group).

Mel is survived by his wife, Mary Ann of Mesquite; his daughters, Kim Anderson and Debbie Gregson; his grandchildren, Christina Goforth and Michael Oakden Jr; his great-grandson Andrew James (A.J.) Cookston Jr., all of Stockton, Calif.; his sisters, Kathy (Jim) Montgomery; Margaret Stewart; Lavina (Huey) Lippey; and Nadine (Mitt) Scarbrough, all from Louisiana; his brother, Danny (Sheila) Gregson of Texas; and many nieces and nephews.
