08 25 14 ANCIENT INSCRIPTIONS 17X33-sml-2 Lost City“Dreamtime Revisited” is an exhibit of the works of Joyce Spavin at The Lost City Museum in September. The artist’s etchings, prints, linocuts and block printing explore the southwestern desert.

Spavin majored in graphic arts while studying at Parsons School of Design in New York City and specialized in drawing, design, calligraphy, and painting. She moved to Las Vegas in 1970 and said she nurtures a lifelong interest in the arts. She began to explore the southwestern desert and fell in love with the history of Nevada. The desert captivated her imagination and inspired her art and interest in petroglyphs, pictographs and other Native American artwork.

She also created her own business, Dreamtime Images, in partnership with her husband Brian.  Her artistic talents became internationally recognized and were featured in a series of shows. Spavin has been represented by a number of galleries across the United States and her work is in private and corporate collections around the world.

The Lost City Museum actively engages people in understanding and celebrating Nevada’s natural and cultural heritage.
