To the editor:
I’ve always known how special the Mesquite community is but it was reinforced all the more during my husband Scotty’s recent illness and passing. The outpouring of love, concern, and caring from so many people through cards, emails, phone calls and hugs to Scotty and me was heartwarming and helped us through a difficult and sad time.

I especially want to thank Mesquite Gaming CEO Anthony Toti for his $1,000 contribution to the Virgin Valley Home Care & Hospice in Scotty’s memory. He and Director of Golf Scott Sullivan also helped make Scotty’s Celebration of Life a very memorable event and through their generosity of free golf we were able to raise $445 more for Virgin Valley Hospice contributions.
Scotty’s former fellow employees at Wolf Creek Golf Course and its owners Cory and Chad Clemetson also made a generous contribution in his honor to the Virgin Valley Hospice organization as did many others in the community. My special thanks to everyone for their kindness.

I also want to extend my appreciation to the Mesquite Veterans Honor Guard, especially Ed Fizer and Tony Hardway. Their participation in the Celebration of Scotty’s life is a memory I will always cherish.

To all those who emailed or texted messages of hope and love to me throughout Scotty’s illness, please understand how much your reaching out meant to both of us.

I also want to thank Dr. Enrique Alfaro, Erica Garrett and the Staff of Virgin Valley Hospice for their help and guidance throughout Scotty’s illness and passing. They epitomize the idea of ‘Angels on Earth’ for all they did for us.

I’ve always been proud to call Mesquite my home for the last 13 years. I’m looking forward to many more years of being part of a community that is the greatest place to live.
