There was no doubt that even though the Eureka’s fireworks show was shorter this year than in recent years, ‘Mother Nature’ took notice and decided to try and out-wow the people in Mesquite and surrounding areas Saturday and Sunday nights.
After a short storm last week which reportedly created over 600 lightning strikes, the numbers are still being tallied as to how many strikes reached the area over the weekend.
Undoubtedly, the storm lasted longer and poured down on different parts of the city. It really did make a difference what neighborhood someone lived in, as to whether or not they received any rain at all. Even with Mesquite being approximately 6 miles in diameter, one mile really does make all the difference.
So the Mesquite Local News put out a Facebook call to all of its readers, asking for those photos of amazing lightning strikes across the valley. Well, amazing doesn’t begin to really describe them at all.
Here are the photos received from storms on Saturday and Sunday, July 5 & 6, 2014. Anyone wanting to submit their photos for display (with full credit) on the MLN website can do so by emailing them (with name and location/direction of photo) to steph.bbm@gmail.com. We will add them to the site as we get them!
As I was reading your article on Sunday’s storm, this was sent to my e-mail by our Son, Marty Olsen in Salt Lake City, check it out: http://youtu.be/jIKeYAzkzdc .You may have to copy & paste it in your browser…worth watching.
Thank you!
