On Monday, July 28, ten players kept the competition levels high as they shot in the 30’s for the round. John Meyer came in at two under par, 33, taking home the low gross and low net awards for the day.

“His score could have been much lower,” said Jim Buttler. “There were at least three putts that were just inches short.”

The team competition was a modified stableford format with handicaps. John Meyer led the way with help from his team of Capt. Ron Nickle, Larry Mierisch and Jim Buttler.

There were three closest to the pin awards Monday, with Alex Churchich taking one and John Meyer stealing the other two. Skins were also rare, with Andrew Yeh and Jim Buttler each taking one a piece, and Meyer with two.

“John was a gracious winner,” said Buttler, “treating the last of the group to a wee dram to keep their ‘spirits’ up before calling it a wrap.”

The GAS Club’s tee times are set through December and they encourage all players to join them at the Falcon Ridge Golf Course every Monday and Wednesday. For more information, contact Jim Buttler at 702-346-2714 or Brian Wursten at 702-346-6363.
