Community Calendar July 24 – 30, 2014

The Virgin Valley Theatre Group is offering, not one, but two workshops. The first workshop focuses on developing an original show, Fly Willie, written by professional entertainer and award winning director/choreographer Dan Nielsen and will help develop movement and characterization.

The Virgin Valley Theatre Group’s Shakespeare workshop begins on Monday and runs the entire month of August with an opportunity to perform what you’ve studied in the gazebo behind the art gallery during the last week of August.

The workshop will be facilitated by Theatre graduate and teacher Jon Marler.  Marler has a passion for Shakespeare and would like to help make Shakespeare accessible to everyone.

Workshops are free and open to anyone with a passion for entertaining and theatre.

The Virgin Valley Heritage Museum will be hosting an activity session on July 26 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Fine Arts Gallery Classroom located at 35 W Mesquite Blvd.

There will be two different activities available for everyone to enjoy.  With the first activity participants will learn how to make paper using the pulp process which is still used by modern manufacturers.

The second activity will allow participants the opportunity to learn about paper quilling.

Artist Mary Lou Kessler, of the Virgin Valley Artist Association, has offered to show participants the basics of these paper art forms.

The event is free and open to all ages.

According to Erika Marler, “A Stitch in Time Saves Nine” craft series is an ongoing crafting initiative produced by The Virgin Valley Heritage Museum to encourage a love of history through fun traditional crafts.

Don’t forget to cool off this summer in the city’s Splash Pad located at the Sport and Event Complex, 1635 Bertha Howe Ave.  It’s a great way to stay cool and have fun for FREE!

Remember to send all your meeting, events or entertainment information to tphilswife@aol.com; I’ll help you spread the word.
