The Mesquite Challenge Golf Tourney at Falcon Ridge Golf Course on Monday, June 16 turned out to be just that, a real challenge. Due to the windy weather and the difficult pin placements (as requested) for the final six holes, the format was three phases: first six holes as a shamble, second six as best-ball and then the final six as a scramble. Getting a shot close to the pin on the last six took some quality shots by all players.

It was not surprising to participants to have Andrew Yeh and partner Dave Jordan to handle all conditions and come in as winners with a net (62.44), just nosing out two other tough linksters,  Capt. Ron Nickle and Dave Calmelat (62.80) by a mere third of a stroke.

The third place team of Ben Bishop and Big Terry Spriggs were just under a stroke out of 1st at (63.36). The fourth place team was the Wursten brothers, Brian and Rob, at (65.68) edging two other teams by less than a stroke.

The closest to the pin winners were Andrew Yeh on hole #2, Dave Jordan on hole #5, Capt. Ron Nickle on hole #8, Dave Calmalat on hole #14, and John Johnson on hole #17.

Organizers Jim Buttler and Brian Wurston sent their thanks to all the players for coming out for the tournament, hoping they all had a great time. Guests enjoyed the golf and the lunch at the clubhouse afterwards and, as usual, the crew at Falcon Ridge made them feel welcome and appreciated.

The next challenge tournament will be this Fall, sometime in October although dates have not been set at this time.
