Editor’s note: The following was taken from the pages of the Mesquite Police Department blotter for May 25 – 31, 2014.

May 25:

Trespassing: Officers responded to assist animal control with a dog on Marilyn Pkwy. A female owner was located, and due to past encounters the female was trespassed from city parks.

Theft: An Officer was dispatched to a reported theft on Mesa Springs Dr.  A report was taken.

Found Property: An Officer responded to assist a citizen with found property on Hillside Dr.

Theft F/Person: Officers responded to a reported theft of a bag on N Sandhill Blvd. Complainant’s items were found stashed in garbage can. Complainant was just looking to refill prescriptions. Nothing further.

Suspicious Person/Circumstance: Officers responded to a call of a disorderly person with a gun on Falcon Ridge Pkwy, attempting to get a ride. A complaint was signed for breach of peace. The male subject was placed under arrest for breach of peace and a weapons charge.

May 26:

Information Report: Officer received information of possible drug use at a local residence on Mesa Blvd. Extra patrol was requested in the area.

Controlled Substance Problem: An Officer performed a traffic stop, during which controlled substance was found in the vehicle.  One adult male was taken into custody.

Found Property: An officer responded to two old damaged bicycles abandoned in the complainant’s yard on Palos Verdes Dr.

Traffic Violation: An Officer responded a assist a citizen with a traffic complaint on Pebble Beach Dr.

Unknown Problem: Officer responded to Peartree Ln to a local clubhouse pool on a 911 hang up. Contact was made with an adult female and her grandchildren. Female stated the phone was knocked off the hook by pool toys and the battery fell out. Female put the battery back in and hung the phone up not realizing it had called 911.

May 27:

Suspicious Person/Circumstance: Officer responded to a local residence on Mesa Springs Dr with a window screen removed. It was determined no crime had been committed, and the neighbor had already re-installed the screen.

Suspicious/Person: Officer responded to a suspicious person sleeping on the porch of a residence on Turtleback Rd with owners out of town. Male was intoxicated and used to live there; he moved on without incident and denied medical attention.

Agency Assistance: Officer responded to the local court on Hillside Dr to stand in courtroom for security for an inmate’s initial appearance. Nothing further.

Burglary: Suspect arrested at 1:50 p.m., at Mesquite Wal-Mart for Burglary/Theft.

Traffic Problem: Officer checked on a motorist pulled to the side of the road on the freeway, I15 NB. Motorists were visiting from out of country, and were having problems with directions. Officer assisted them with the correct information.

May 28:

Juvenile Problem: Officer took a report of a possible, unauthorized posting of photographs on the internet of a juvenile. Information was gathered and an investigation has been started.

Welfare Check: Officer responded to a local residence on Turtleback Rd, for a requested welfare check on the female resident. The female was found to be in need of medical attention and transported to the hospital.

Traffic Stop: Officers arrested a male on W Mesquite Blvd who had a warrant out of White Pine County Sheriff’s Office. The male was transported to the Mesquite Detention Center where he awaits transportation.

Controlled Substance Problem: Officers responded to a domestic in progress on Turtleback Rd and later discovered it was just a male subject yelling and throwing furniture around the house with nobody else in the home. Officers observed marijuana and a pipe in plain view while conducting the investigation. The subject was cited and released for possession of marijuana and paraphernalia.

May 29:

Traffic Stop: An officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for an equipment violation on W Mesquite Blvd. The officer observed sings of impairment in the driver, and the male driver was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Domestic Trouble: A female reporting domestic battery between an ex spouse. It was reported and witnessed by business employees and customers on N Sandhill Blvd that the male pushed the victim to the floor of her business. The male was located and placed under arrest for domestic battery.

Theft: Officer responded to Sundial Lane residence and took a report of stolen yard decorations. Information was received and the crime is under investigation.

Trespassing: Officers contacted a male and female who were trespassing at a local grocery store on N Sandhill Blvd.  The male and female where cited for the violation and released with court dates.

Traffic Accident w/ Damage: An officer responded to a parking lot on E Pioneer Blvd in reference to a minor property damage accident between two semi-trucks. A incident summary was completed and both driver’s were given a driver information exchange form.

Suspicious Person/Circumstance: Officers responded to a motel on W Mesquite Blvd reference a battery report. The female complainant stated she had been attacked by a male, and the suspect fled the area. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect.

May 30:

Traffic Accident, w/ Injuries: Officers were dispatched to a parking lot on W Pioneer Blvd, reference a private property accident. A driver of a vehicle was transported to the hospital after colliding with a large boulder.

May 31:

Business or License Problem: Officers conducted a business check on a local dance hall on W Pioneer Blvd. The occupants of the dance hall had leased the space and were distributing alcoholic beverages.  The owner of the hall was contacted and the distribution ceased.

Found Property: Officer responded to a report of several yard decorations, found at a Gean Street residence. Some of the items had been reported as stolen from other area residence. Report stolen items have been returned to owners. Police attempting to locate owners of the other found items.

Trespassing: Officers responded to Smith’s for a trespass of a male subject, for suspicious circumstance. Trespass warning was read and male left property.

Runaway Juvenile: Parents on Verllonia St filed a runaway juvenile report. Juvenile was later located and subsequently returned home, after receiving a curfew citation.

Battery on Person: Officer responded to a local casino on E Pioneer Blvd for a report of a battery. Upon Officer’s arrival the suspect has left the scene. A report was taken.

Fighting: Officers responded to a local casino on E Pioneer Blvd for a report of a fight. Officers investigated the incident and arrest was made for battery.
