Editor’s note: The following was taken from the pages of the Mesquite Police Department blotter for June 1 – 7, 2014.

June 1:

Animal complaint: Officer responded to a local casino on E Pioneer Blvd on a report of missing dogs. Owner stated he let two dogs out in a dirt lot and they ran off. Contact information was gathered from the owner, and extra patrol was done throughout the area.

Trespassing: Officers responded to Canyon Drive residence for a report of a family dispute. The dispute was found to be verbal only. The involved son left the property for a cooling-off period.

Citizen Assist: An officer received a telephone call in reference to a juvenile problem on Greens Way.

Suspicious Person/Circumstance: Officers responded to a residence on Sunvalley Dr for a suspicious situation. Investigation included signs of an attempted forced entry burglary.

June 2:

Suspicious Person/Circumstance: Officer received a report of suspicious activity at a local residence on Mesquite Springs Dr with multiple vehicles coming and going from the residence. Extra patrol was requested in the area.

Juvenile Problem: An officer was dispatched to the police department in reference to a juvenile problem.

Theft: An Officer responded to a gas station on N Sandhill Blvd reference stolen car keys.

Found Property: An officer responded to the Mesquite Justice Facility to return a missing item to the owner.

Theft: An Officer responded to a residence on E Mesquite Blvd reference possible problem with the mail.

Background Investigation: Privilege license background check for liquor license on N Sandhill Blvd.

Disorderly Conduct: Officers responded to a parking lot on N Sandhill Blvd for an argument between two adults.  The incident was resolved.

Background Investigation: Privilege license background check for peddlers/solicitors permit at the police department.

Agency Assistance: Assisted an agency from out of state with a welfare check of two juveniles on W Hafen Ln, who’s parents did not show up to court in Washington County, Utah.

Wanted Person: An officer responded to a local business on W Mesquite Blvd and took an adult male subject into custody for a misdemeanor warrant.

Theft: An officer responded to Great Arch Ave for a report of a possible theft, the victim was not available and the theft unverified.

Citizen Dispute: An Officer responded to a residence on Fairways Dr reference a dispute between neighbors.  An adult male and female were trespassed from the neighbor’s property.

Found Property: An officer responded to the Mesquite Justice Facility to return a missing item to the owner.

Agency Assistance: An Officer responded to assist Mesquite Fire and Rescue with an elderly male on Mesa Blvd.  A report was forwarded to Senior Services.

Theft: Officer received a report of possible illegal use of a credit card on Pulsipher Ln. Complainant is following up with a credit card company and friends that have access to the account.

June 3:

Traffic accident W/O injury: Officers responded to a non-injury traffic accident at a roundabout at W Mesquite Blvd & W Falcon Ridge Pkwy.  A van had sideswiped a City of Mesquite truck.  The driver of the van was cited.

Juvenile Problem: An officer received a telephone call in reference to children riding skateboards in the street.

Found Property: An officer responded to the Mesquite Justice Facility to return a missing item to the owner.

Theft: An officer responded to a local residence on Honeysuckle Ln, in reference to a theft.

Theft: Officer responded to a local residence on Glade Rd on a report of theft, one adult male was charged with grand larceny based on the investigation.

Noise Disturbance: Officers responded to a noise complainant at a local residence on W Hafen Ln.

Phone Harassment: An officer was dispatched to a local residence on Bull Whip Pt in reference to suspicious phone calls.

Parking Problem: An officer was dispatched to a local residence on Goshawk Xing in reference to a parking problem.

Traffic Stop: An Officer conducted a traffic stop on W Mesquite Blvd and the male driver had an active warrant. He was arrested and transported to the Mesquite Detention Center.

Lost Property: A citizen on Calais Dr reported his wallet lost/stolen/missing. A report was taken.

June 4:

Fraud: Officer spoke with a male on Quicksilver Way, who was a victim of fraud. Money was sent to get a grandson out of jail. Male later learned his grandson was not in jail. Information concerning the crime was gathered and a report taken.

Lost Property: Officer responded to a local Casino on W Mesquite Blvd, reference a report of lost property. Information was received and a report taken.

Wanted Person: Officer made contact with a female with an active felony warrant out of Las Vegas, Nevada. The warrant was confirmed and the female was arrested and transported to the Mesquite Detention Center without incident.

Theft: A VVHS student had stolen school property. Property was recovered and the student will be referred to the juvenile justice system.

Suspicious Person/Circumstance: Officers responded to a residence on Jackrabbit St. reference a report of a man who assaulted a juvenile female. The officers attempted to locate a suspect matching the description provided. An officer’s report was completed.

Driving Under the Influence: An officer observed a vehicle traveling above the posted speed limit, and conducted a traffic stop on W Mesquite Blvd. The male driver was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol, and was arrested for DUI.

June 5:

Found Property: Officer responded to a local park on E Old Mill Rd for a report of found property. Citizen advised he found a small pouch in the grass containing contraband. Property was booked in to be destroyed.

Missing Person: An officer took a report of a missing elderly women who left in her vehicle at noon to get a sandwich from a local restaurant. The women never returned home to N Camellia Cir and was reported missing by her husband. Surrounding agencies were notified and the subject was listed on NCIC as a missing person.

Traffic Problem: Officers responded to a large water main break on Pioneer Boulevard. The water district and city streets department arrived on scene, closed the road, and shut off the water.

Minor Possessing/Consuming: Officers conducted a controlled underage alcohol buy at a bar on W Mesquite Blvd.  The Bartender sold alcohol to a minor.  The Bartender was cited for a city ordinance violation of distributing to a minor.

Minor Possessing/Consuming: Officer issued one adult female citation on W Pioneer Blvd for furnishing alcohol to a minor.

Minor Possessing/Consuming: Officer issued one adult male on El Dorado Rd a citation for furnishing alcohol to minor.

June 6:

Traffic accident W/O injury: Officers responded to a report of a vehicle accident in parking lot on W Mesquite Blvd. Upon arrival officers observed that a single vehicle had collided with a building. Insurance information was exchanged prior to officer arrival. Driver of the vehicle was uninjured.

Wanted Person: Officer made contact with a female on W Pioneer Blvd with an active warrant. The female was arrested and transported to the Mesquite Detention Center without incident.

Civil Matter: An Officer responded to a threatening neighbor dispute on Rivers Bend Dr.  The Officer spoke with both parties involved and completed a report.

Controlled Substance Problem: An Officer responded to a casino on E Pioneer Blvd to assist security with a lost purse, which contained controlled substance.  Upon locating the owner of the purse, the adult female was charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

June 7:

Minor Gambling: An officer responded to a local casino on E Pioneer Blvd in reference to an ID check. While officers responded, the suspect fled on foot. Another under age male, who was with the suspect who fled, was also under age gambling. This individual was arrested for minor gambling. Officers were unable to locate the suspect who fled on foot.

Graffiti: An Officer was conducting a routine check of a city park on Second South St. when graffiti was located.  A report was made and a request to clean the graffiti was sent to the parks department.

Wanted Person: Officer made contact with a female on Hillside Dr with an active warrant. The warrant was confirmed with a hard copy. The female was arrested and escorted to the Mesquite Detention Center without incident.

Vandalism: Officer responded and took a report of several lights on the trail system found vandalized on W Old Mill Rd. Investigation is ongoing.

Property Damage, Non Vandalism: Officers responded to a private property vehicle accident on E Pioneer Blvd. The drivers exchanged information and a report was taken.

Wanted Person: Officers contacted a local male subject on E Pioneer Blvd & Mesa Blvd reference a bench warrant. An investigation also reveled the male subject was in possession of narcotics.  The male subject was arrested.
