Semi-Annual Conference a success

The Mesquite Nevada Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints recently held its semi-annual conference at the Stake Center on North Arrowhead Lane June 15. The stake consists of all members of the Church in the Virgin Valley and contains ten congregations called wards with two smaller groups (branches) serving Spanish speaking members and Young Single Adults.

Because of the number in attendance the conference was also broadcast to a second building, the Whipple Chapel which shares a parking lot with the Stake Center. President Theron Jensen presided at the meetings with his councilors Kraig Hafen and Craig Anderson. Inspiring messages were presented and specially prepared musical numbers added to the spirituality of the conference.

June activity day brings girls together

Two hours of fun and spiritual learning were in store for girls from eight to twelve years of age when they met for their Summer Fun activity in June at the Mesquite Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on North Arrowhead Lane. Heather Everitt had been asked by Stake Primary President Jill Empey to organize a special activity and achievement day for the girls of the valley. The group consisted of 74 girls and their leaders as they gathered to play a game which helped them learn and remember the Articles of Faith and a fun activity making fancy, decorated flip flops. Suzie Frehner, a member of the presidency also assisted in the activities.
