Editor’s note: The following was taken from the pages of the Mesquite Police Department blotter for May 4 – 10, 2014.
May 4:

Lost Property: Officers responded to a local RV park on W Mesquite Blvd reference stolen property.  A report was taken.

Suspicious/Person: Officers responded to a suspicious vehicle on Hawk St., around Second South and Grapevine. Upon contact Officers identified the occupants of the vehicle.  A records check revealed one adult male had two outstanding warrants.  The male was placed under arrest.

Trespassing: Officers responded to a local business on N Sandhill Blvd on a report of trespassing. Two adults were issued citations for trespassing at the manager’s request after previously being trespassed.

May 5:

Traffic accident W/O injury: Officers responded to southbound Interstate 15 for reports of a vehicle rollover.  Upon arrival a single vehicle had not lost control and there were no injuries.

Theft: Officers responded to a local business on W Mesquite Blvd on reports of a theft.  A report was taken and forwarded to Detectives.

Welfare Check: An officer was dispatched to a local residence on Turtleback Rd for a welfare check.

Found Property: An officer responded to a found property call on Falcon Ridge Pkwy. The owner was located and the property returned.

Vandalism: An Officer responded to a report of vandalism on Pulsipher Ln.  A report was taken and attempts made to locate a suspect.

Alarm: An officer was dispatched to a local residence for an alarm call on La Scala Dr.

Suspicious Person/Circumstance: An officer responded to a local apartment building on E Old Mill Rd in reference to a suspicious vehicle.

Lost Property: An officer was dispatched to the police department, in reference to a lost property report.

Citizen Assist: An Officer responded to assist a citizen with questions and concerns on Hillside Dr.

Suspicious Person/Circumstance: Officer met with resident on Hillside Dr who received a suspicious phone call. Officer gathered information and a report was taken.

May 6:

Traffic accident W/O injury: Officers responded to a traffic collision on N Sandhill Blvd.

Suspicious/Vehicle: An officer was dispatched to the parking lot of a local business on E Pioneer Blvd, in reference to a suspicious vehicle.

Fraud: An Officer responded to assist a local citizen on Lisa Ln with questions about a possible fraud.

Citizen Assist: An officer stopped and helped a motorist who had engine trouble and was stopped on the I15 NB 120 Off-Ramp.

Suspicious Person/Circumstance: An officer responded to a local hotel on E Pioneer Blvd in reference to suspicious property left in a room.

Citizen Assist: An officer responded to a local neighborhood on Rivers Bend Dr for a report of clothing worn by a female the complainant did not approve of.

Theft-Bicycle: An Officer responded to a report of a stolen bicycle on Desert Dr.  A report was taken and attempt to locate.

Suspicious/Person: An officer spoke to a male who was going through trash cans in the area of N Sandhill Blvd & E Old Mill Rd.

Traffic Stop: Vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation on Falcon Ridge Pkwy. Vehicle was warned.

May 7:

Battery on Person: Officer responded to a local residence on Verllonia St, for a report of two female juveniles involved in a fight. The parents of the juveniles declined to pursue charges and asked that the incident be handled by the school.

Controlled Substance Problem: An officer responded to suspicious juveniles found inside a vacant apartment on Riverside Road. The juveniles fled on foot when the manager made entry into apartment. The manager said he smelled marijuana inside the room.

Found Property: An officer responded to a casino on E Pioneer Blvd in reference to a found property in a hotel room. Officers attempted to locate the owner, but did not have a valid phone number. The property was booked into evidence for safe keeping.

Trespassing: Officers responded to a grocery store on N Sandhill Blvd reference a patron who management requested to trespass from the property. A records check of the male showed he had an active warrant out of Elko, Nevada. The male subject was trespassed from the property, and arrested on the warrant.

May 8:

Wanted Person: Officers arrested a male on Hillside Dr who had a warrant out of Mesquite Municipal Court.

Noise Disturbance: Officers responded to a residence on Calle Del Sol reference a noise complaint. An adult male at the residence had an active warrant, and was arrested for the warrant.

Controlled Substance Problem: Officer responded to a local Casino on E Pioneer Blvd, reference a report of illegal drugs found in a vacant hotel room. The item was placed into the Police evidence room to be destroyed.

Wanted Person: Officer came in contact with a male subject with a active arrest warrant on Moss Dr. Subject was taken into custody with out incident.

Trespassing: Officers contacted an adult female inside a casino on Mesa Blvd, who had been previously trespassed from the property. The female was arrested for the trespass violation.

Controlled Substance Problem: Detectives with the Mesquite Police Department observed a drug transaction in a business on Mesa Blvd. After conducting an investigation, a male and female were arrested for multiple felony narcotic related charges.

Minor Gambling: An officer responded to a casino on E Pioneer Blvd in reference to an ID check on a possible minor gambling. The female suspect admitted to being 19 years old and playing the Keno machine. After verifying her age, the female was cited and released for Minor Gambling.

May 9:

Truancy: VVHS student received habitual truancy citation. Parent received citation for failure of parent to prevent subsequent truancy.

Lost Property: Officer took a report of a lost wallet, containing money, identification and credit cards on Hardy Way. Officers are currently attempting to locate the wallet.

Stolen Property: Officer responded to a local residence for a report of a stolen bicycle on Thompson Dr. Report was taken and officers attempted to locate the bicycle throughout the city.

Wanted Person: Officers observed an adult female inside a vehicle on N Sandhill Blvd who had an active Mesquite Municipal Court warrant. Officers contacted the occupants of the vehicle, and observed evidence of further criminal activity. The female was arrested for the warrant and drug charges. The adult male passenger was arrested for open containers of alcohol.

May 10:

Juvenile Problem: An officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a moving violation on Falcon Ridge Pkwy. The juvenile driver was driving without a license, and was in possession of alcohol. The juvenile was issued citations, and released to a parent with a court date.

Traffic accident W/O injury: Officers were dispatched to a local business on W Mesquite Blvd for a private property two vehicle accident. No injuries were reported, both drivers were provided with the driver’s exchange form.

Wanted Person: Officers contacted an adult male on W Mesquite Blvd with an arrest warrant out of Clark County. The warrant was confirmed with transportation. The male was taken into custody and transported to Clark County Detention Center, Las Vegas.

Traffic Accident w/ Damage: Officers were dispatched to a local business on W Pioneer Blvd for a private property two vehicle accident. No injuries were reported, both drivers were provided with the driver’s exchange form.

Controlled Substance Problem: Officers responded to a suicidal subject and located illegal narcotics in the subject’s possession on W Pioneer Blvd. The subject denied being suicidal, but was arrested for the illegal drugs.

Phone Harassment: An officer responded to a grocery store on N Sandhill Blvd reference a harassment report. The complainant stated two males had been following a female patron around the store. The complainant trespassed both male subjects from the property.

Traffic Accident w/ Damage: Officers responded to an intersection on Riverside Rd reference a non-injury single vehicle accident. The male juvenile driver was driving too fast for conditions, and lost control of the vehicle. The driver was issued a traffic citation and released at the scene.

Trespassing: Officers responded to a local casino on E Pioneer Blvd and arrested a male for trespass.
