The upcoming brown bag presentation at the Mesquite Fine Art Gallery on Tuesday, May 6, will be hosted by the local quilting club, Sew Next Time. The participants will be presenting The Art of the Quilt. Participating local quilters will show their works, which represent the major elements of the art, such as color in nature, expressions of life, using negative and positive space, dimensional landscapes and much more.

Candace Miller, a member of the group, will give a brief history of the quilt in America and the role of quilting in modern day life. She will be accompanied by the following members of the club: Doreen Kinkaide, Gail Ashdown, Carol McIntosh, Bonnie Campbell, Kate Bean, Jan Rice, Sandy Haase, Marie Wheeler, Sherry Stolte, Barb Laizure, Judy Strachan, Maggie Nichols and Charlotte Alsman.

Many of the supplies for their quilts can be had at the new quilting supply store, Simply Quilts, at 190 E. Mesquite Blvd., which is owned by Omega Sugg.

Plan to be there at noon. The gallery is located at 15 W. Mesquite Blvd.
