TROWER CHANGES TEES AND WINS BY THREE SHOTS OVER LIRA

The MMGA headed for St George this week while Mesquite entertained the Mesquite Amateur players.  Their first stop was the Ledges golf course.  Because the forward tee players did not want to play from the ladies tees they chose to play from the second back tee boxes.  It didn’t seem to bother Dan Trower as he recorded only two triple bogeys and a birdie on the par three 10th hole for a gross 91 and net 66 to take low net honors away from Manny Lira.  Lira had just returned from the far east and wasn’t expecting to play well but actually played quite well with only one bad hole scoring a 94 and net 69 for second place.  Ben Bishop (86) took second and Bill Irace (82) won the third spot.

JORDAN, GARDNER HAVE SOLID ROUNDS

The fact that Andrew Yeh came back to the first tee to re-hit because no one could find his tee shot may have been a bad omen for him. The MMGA traveled again to St George on Thurs and this time they teed it up at Sun River. Yeh went on to record a seven on the first hole and only had two birdies on his round of 82.  On the other hand Dave Jordan finally was rewarded with two steady rounds of 39-38-77 to take medalist honors.  Like wise Terry Gardner played very well and was the only other player to break 40 as he birdied the second hole on his way to a three over par 38 on the front.  He recorded a 42 on the back for 80 and a net 65 that won low net honors by seven shots.  Bill Irace with two birdies and two skins scored 82 and won second place low net over Ben Bishop with a birdie on the first handicap hole.  Bishop’s bogey was good enough for third place.

The next scheduled play is on Tuesday, June 3rd at Falcon Ridge at 7:50 and Thursday, June 5th at the Palms at 7:30.  Always check your sign up sheets for any corrected times or places.  Anyone interested in joining the MMGA can call 346-6363.  Also check out our website atwww.mesquitemensgolf.com.
