Bulldog track team competes at Boulder City Small School Invitational

The Virgin Valley High School Bulldog girls and boys team placed sixth and seventh respectively Friday afternoon in the Boulder City High School Small School Invitational. “We didn’t have our best meet as a team, but we did have some good individual performances,” said Bulldog Head Coach Gary Hartman. “Micah Saunders won the long jump with a leap of 19’11” and Kaydee Bingham did well in the 100 and 200 meter events.”

The Lady Dawgs placed sixth in the women’s meet with 44.5 points led by Bingham’s fourth and third places in the 100 and 200 meter dashes. The Dawgs 4×100 meter relay team consisting of Jessica Baeza, Emma Dodenbier, Taylor Bryant and anchor Bingham took fourth with a time of 53:98 seconds. Adding to the ladies points totals were Taylor Bryant in the pole vault with a leap of 9’00”, Leslie Planck’s fifth place in the discus and freshman Dylan Bryant’s sixth place in the pole vault.

The Bulldog boys placed seventh with 36 points led by Saunders first in the long jump. Other point winners were Saunders fifth place in the 200 meters, Rich Martinez fifth in the 110 meter high hurdles and the Bulldog 4×200, 4×400 and 4×800 meter relay teams who placed fourth, third and fourth respectively. The team’s next action will be Tuesday afternoon at Sunrise Mountain High School in the 1-A Southern Regionals.
