Bulldog boys no-hit by Cowboys 10-0

The Virgin Valley High School Bulldog baseball team ended league play with a 10-0 loss to the Chaparral High School Cowboys Tuesday night in Las Vegas. Cowboy thrower Tommy Crone pitched a no-hit shutout for the second time this season. The Bulldogs ended league play with a 3-9 record. Chaparral won the league with a 10-1 record and received a first seed home game in the 1-A Southern Division playoffs. The Dawgs will end their season at Mojave High School on Friday May 9.

Bulldog nine lose extra-inning heartbreaker to Pirates 9-8

The Virgin Valley High School baseball team had no answer for Pirate relief pitcher Chad Jones Wednesday, April 30 in the Dawg Pound. Jones was called into the game in relief in the second inning with the Pirates trailing 7-3 to the host Bulldogs. All Jones did was pitch 6 and ½ inning in relief, go 4-4 at bat including a homerun in the eighth inning to win the game 9-8. The Pirates scored three runs in the first inning on a Jared Repp home run to take an early lead. The Dawgs cut the lead to 3-1 before exploding for six runs in the bottom of the second inning to go up by a score of 7-3. The Pirates added single runs in the fourth and sixth innings and took the lead with three runs in the seventh inning to take an 8-7 lead. The Dawgs tied the game in their half of the inning to set up Jones winning home run in the first extra-inning.

Jaguars shutout Bulldog baseball team 7-0

The Virgin Valley High School baseball team traveled to Las Vegas on Friday, May 2 to face Desert Pines High School. The host Jaguars played rude hosts shutting out the Dawgs 7-0 behind the pitching of Andres Corbett who only allowed two Bulldog hits in seven innings. David Olivares led the Jaguar hitters with three hits and three runs batted in on four at bats. Bulldog Al Wharton pitched five innings for the Dawgs and took the loss. The loss dropped the Dawgs league record to 3-8 and 5-22 for the season.
