#1 MLN-Softball1may1-14The Virgin Valley High School Lady Bulldogs continue to improve weekly and are making a late season run for the 1-A Sunrise League playoffs.

The Dawgs defeated Sunrise Mountain High School Miners 11-9 on April 24. The Bulldogs, behind the bats of Janella Fiso, Kaycee Anderson and pitcher Becca Bramlage, held off the Miners scoring two runs in the sixth inning for the win. The Lady Bulldogs led 9-1 in the top of the fourth inning behind the strong pitching of Bramlage. The Miners surged with six runs in the bottom of the fourth to cut the Dawgs lead to 9-7 before adding two more runs in the fifth inning to tie the game at 9-9. Fiso, Anderson and Bramlage had two hits each to lead the Dawgs. Bramlage got a complete game win for the Dawgs. The Bulldogs were helped by 13 Miners’ errors.

Pahranaghat Valley 8, Virgin Valley 6

The Lady Bulldogs jumped on the Panthers from Pahranaghat Valley High School Friday in a non-league encounter early, taking a 6-3 lead into the last inning. The Dawgs were led by the big bat of third baseman Fiso who homered and had two runs batted in. The Division IV leading Panthers rallied for five runs in the seventh to steal the win 8-6.

Lady Dawgs 6, Lady Roadrunners 4

Bramlage, pitching in her third game in six days, hurled a complete game and led the Dawgs in batting going two for three. Teammate Maggie Dobbs stroked an R.B.I. single for the go ahead run in the sixth inning for the Dawgs. The Dawgs trailed 4-2 going into the bottom of the sixth before Dobbs heroics gave them the win 6-4. Bramlage continued her hot bat with two hits to lead the Dawgs. The win gave the Lady Dawgs an important 5-4 record in league play and fourth spot in the 1A Sunrise League. The Lady Bulldogs will host archrival Moapa Valley Wednesday in an important league game. The Pirates are 7-1 in league play for the season.
