FIRST AID CLASS

First Aid course follows the American Heart Association (AHA) curriculum in identifying and treating victims that require care during an emergency. The curriculum covers when to call for help, blood borne pathogen exposure, illness, injury and environmental hazards. Participants will practice recognitions of specific health issues, and performs skills on a victim. Course length 3-4 hours

Make sure to bring water and wear comfortable clothing. There are fees included to participate in the class, please inquire on these with the Recreation Center, we ask that you preregister for the class. The class will be held (Tuesday) April 29, 2014 from 5:30 – 9:00PM at the Mesquite Community Senior Center. Classes are taught by Belinda Guglielmo a certified instructor.

HEART SAVER CPR & AED CLASS

 Bystander CPR and AED use course covers American Heart Association guidelines for CPR in adult, child, and infant in one person rescuer. Participants will follow the AHA curriculum which provides frequent practice of CPR and AED skills. Participants will demonstrate conscious choking maneuvers. This course is not recommended for those requiring a healthcare level training. AHA 2 year validation card will be issued following the course. Course length 2 – 3 hours

The class will be held (Monday) April 28, 2014 from 6:00 – 9:00PM at the Mesquite Community Senior Center. Classes are taught by Belinda Guglielmo a certified instructor.

 

PET FIRST AID (Cats & Dogs)

This course is designed for the pet lover to provide the necessary information and skills to stabilize an injured or unwell animal until professional medical help is available. Participants will work on manikins to practice skills. Please leave pets at home.

Course Length 3 – 4 hours

Restraint and Transportation
Bleeding and Wounds
Shock
Fractures
Poisonings
Eye and ear injuries
Administering medications
Airway obstruction and choking
CPR and choking

CPR For HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS

CPR Healthcare Providers Course covers American Heart Association guidelines for CPR in adult, child, and infant one and two person rescuers. Participants will follow the AHA curriculum which provides frequent practice of CPR and AED skills. Participants will demonstrate use of a bag valve mask and conscious choking maneuvers. AHA two year validation card will be issued follow the course. Course length 3 – 4 hours

There are fees included to participate in the class, please inquire on these with the Recreation Center, we ask that you preregister for the class. The class will be held (Thursday) May 1, 2014 from 5:30PM – 9:00PM at the Mesquite Community Senior Center, 102 West Old Mill Road. Classes are taught by Belinda Guglielmo a certified instructor.
