Monday was a long day for the Virgin Valley High School Bulldogs baseball team as they lost two games at the Cowboy Classic baseball tournament at Chaparral High School in Las Vegas. The Bulldogs could only muster one run while giving up 26 to the opposition.

The Bulldogs fell first to the Mojave Rattlers 10-0 on a no-hitter off the arm of pitcher Tyson Goodrich. The Rattlers were helped by control problems by the Bulldog pitching staff who allowed 8 walks and hit three Mojave batters.

The afternoon game against the Desert Shields of Cheyenne High School was decided early as the Shields led 7-1 after two innings of play. The Bulldogs behind ace Cody Faught settled down and held Cheyenne until the top of the seventh inning when the Desert Shields blasted a Bulldog relief pitcher for seven runs to win going away 14-1.

The Dawgs will face two more opponents Tuesday and Wednesday in the classic before returning to league play on Tuesday April 22 at Boulder City and Thursday April 24 at Sunrise Mountain. The Dawgs next home game will be on April 25 against Pahranaghat Valley.
