To the Editor:

As Cubmaster of Pack 8, I’d like to thank the community for their support of our recent fundraising efforts.

On behalf of all the youth and leaders, I want to express a huge thanks to the Eureka. Their support from the pasta garden is allowing several of our Cubs attend day camp in April.  At day camp, our boys will learn and practice Cub Scout skills. Thank you as well to patrons who enjoyed the pasta dinner at the Eureka and to those who gave generous cash donations. Thank you especially to Geri Chasko at the Eureka for making this fundraiser worthwhile and productive.

We also owe a big thank you to the shoppers who have purchased our scout discount shopping Camp Cards. It’s understandably difficult for a 7-8 year-old boy to approach a stranger. The person who takes a few moments to listen to a boy stumble through a sales pitch builds confidence that lasts a lifetime. Additionally, thank you to Allen Rasmussen at Smith’s for allowing us to fundraise on their property.  We have a few more of these cards available.  They have discounts at Smiths, Bass Pro Shops, Wet & Wild, The Adventuredome and several other area businesses.

As the school year winds down, I want to offer the open invitation to any boys entering first- to fifth-grade next year to join our pack.  We’ll be holding several fun activities in the summer months, and any time is a great time to join Cub Scouts. Parents can call me at 435-862-3861 to find out how their sons can participate in Cub Scouting.
